Microsoft To-Do is a cross between a task manager and a to-do list, which runs on all devices on the Windows 10 operating system including PCs, tablets, and smartphones. It syncs automatically across all your devices. Organise your tasks into lists, set reminders and due dates, and share your lists with others. You can even set location-based reminders so you’ll never forget to pick something up when you’re near the store. And, you can add notes to individual tasks so you remember what you need to buy at the grocery store, for example.
OneNote is an app that lets you easily capture, organise, and find all of the information that matters to you — from notes and photos to online articles and video — in one place that’s accessible across all your devices. With OneNote, you can easily organise and find everything you need to be productive. Plus, it’s easy to get started. Save a notebook on OneDrive and it’s instantly available on all your devices.
Microsoft To-Do and OneNote are both very useful apps for many things, but occasionally users may have to refer to both apps simultaneously for certain tasks. For example, if a user has created a shopping list on OneNote that they want to keep track of in Microsoft To-Do, they will have to manually copy the shopping list onto their To-Do app. This takes up a lot of time as the user will likely have to go over each item on the list to ensure they have checked the items off.
Integrating these two apps would save users a lot of time as they will not have to manually copy the list over to their To-Do app every time they want to check off items. Instead, they could simply use their To-Do app as normal and click on the “share this list” option. Therefore, tapping on the “share this list” option would bring up a screen that allows users to either send a link or share the shopping list via OneNote (see image below. After selecting OneNote from the menu, the list would then be saved onto the user’s To-Do app on their device. The user would then be able to use their To-Do app to check off items as they go along while still being able to access their shopping list on OneNote.
If Microsoft were to integrate these two apps, it would make both of them more useful as users would not have to manually copy information over from one app to another — it would all be done automatically. Moreover, it would also save them time when completing certain tasks as they wouldn’t have to manually copy information from one app to another. Additionally, it would also increase user engagement with Microsoft as it would make their apps more accessible and easier to use.
The benefits of integrating these two apps are:
