It is available to all business, education and government customers with an Office 365 subscription or an Office 365 E5 plan. However, minimum requirements are listed as fplowing:There are three different types of channels in Microsoft Teams. Conversations, Meetings and Files. Users can create their own channels or they can use existing ones. Channels have a title and an icon. The icon can be customized. Each channel stores information about its members and any files that have been uploaded to it.
Conversations are text-based conversations in which messages are threaded together. They can be public or private. Conversations that are public can be seen by anyone who has permission to join the channel. Private conversations can only be seen by those who are in the conversation. This feature supports inline images and videos.
Meetings are shared video and audio conferences between up to 250 participants. Meetings can also be recorded and made available for playback through the meeting recording feature. Recordings can be exported to OneDrive or Google Drive for better accessibility and sharing. Meetings also support guest access, allowing external users to join meetings via a unique link without having to create an account or sign in.
Files can be uploaded to channels and shared with other members. Files can be viewed online or downloaded using a variety of methods including HTTP download, secure HTTPS download, Windows client download, Mac client download, and mobile device download. A maximum file size of 2GB can be uploaded per file, and a maximum of 250 GB can be stored in a channel at one time. Channels can be configured to allow users to upload larger files up to 5GB, but this setting must be enabled in the administrative settings of the channel; otherwise, users will receive an error if they try to upload a file above 2GB in size. In addition to giving users the ability to view files inside Microsoft Teams, administrators can also configure File Explorer within Microsoft Teams so that users can view files from outside of the application.
Microsoft Teams is powered by Office 365 Groups. Only group owners and members have access to channels within Microsoft Teams. Other Office 365 users who have been invited to join a channel may be added as guests. Guests can participate in conversations but not meetings or files. The owner of a group is also automatically set as the owner of its associated Microsoft Teams channel, and has contrp over whether the channel appears in search results outside the organization. If a user leaves a group, they will continue to have access to any channels that they created while they were still part of the group; however, they will no longer have access to any channels that were created after they left the group.
