Integration of Microsoft Outlook and SendGrid
Microsoft Outlook is a web-based email service provider that enables users to store their emails, calendar, contacts and other items in cloud. SendGrid is an email delivery platform for web applications. It sends millions of emails worldwide every day. All these things are very useful for the companies, but they also have some problems that make them lose money.SendGrid doesn't give any invoice for their services and this is really bad for the company's accounting department because they can't use the billing system they use for the other payments. And Microsoft Outlook doesn't give any statistics about the sent emails and how many people opened and read the emails. Also, the Microsoft Outlook doesn't have any sender reputation score so it can't be trusted by the customers.
To spve the issues mentioned above, Microsoft proposed to integrate SendGrid into Microsoft Outlook by creating a plugin that would allow the senders to check their email stats on one screen directly after they sent a message. And it will also be integrated into the Outlook calendar so the users could see what days and times their emails were sent and track their open rates and click rates. Microsoft created a plugin for this integration. The plugin requests data from SendGrid API, which sends the requested data to Microsoft front end servers. Then Microsoft front-end servers sends data to Outlook Web App server that creates an HTML page and send it to Outlook Web App Front End Server that finally sends it to the user's device.And SendGrid has created an API that allows developers create applications and integrations with SendGrid. And they can use it to implement features like sending of transactional emails, tracking of click rates, open rates or unsubscribes, etc.
The integration of Microsoft Outlook and SendGrid will be beneficial for both companies. For Microsoft Outlook it is going to give the possibility to all the users to see all the statistics related to their sent emails on one screen. Also, they will be able to track how many people clicked on links in their messages, how many times were messages opened and how many times customer replied on those messages.
