In this day and age, it is important to stay connected with your friends and family. People utilize many different tops to communicate with others; Facebook, Google Talk, and email are just a few of the popular methods used today.A new top has been introduced into the market that can help you keep track of contacts from these services in one easy-to-use place. Microsoft has added an exciting new feature to their already popular mail client, Outlook. The integration of the two will allow users to see their social network updates right inside their email. There are many benefits to integrating the two applications and I intend to discuss those in this article.
Fig. 1 – The Microsoft Outlook 2011 user interfaceOne of the most important things you can do when it comes to communications is staying organized. In this day and age, it is hard to remember all of your friends' email addresses or phone numbers. Furthermore, you might not have all of their contact information, which can make contacting them more difficult. Fortunately, Microsoft Outlook has a spution for this problem.Microsoft Outlook is a program that allows you to manage your contacts as well as your emails. It was previously known as Microsoft Outlook Express. It can be used on multiple devices including Windows, Mac, and even Blackberry phones. Fig. 1 shows the current version of Outlook, called Outlook 2011, running on Windows 7. The interface is very user friendly and similar to other Microsoft programs such as Word and PowerPoint. The new feature that integrates Facebook Page information with Outlook makes using the software much more enjoyable. Once you set up your Outlook account, you can see all the information from your friends' Facebook accounts right inside your inbox. This includes things such as birthdays, new jobs, and other personal information that they post on their Facebook pages.Fig. 2 – Integrating Facebook Pages and Outlook togetherFig. 3 – Viewing all our friends' information in one placeThis new feature also helps keeps everyone's information in one place. Instead of having to look through all the people who we are connected with on social networks, we can simply view their information in our Outlook inboxes (Fig. 3. This helps save time when looking up pd friends and family because we don't have to go searching for them through all our different social networks. You can also choose to integrate Facebook Pages with your Outlook address book if you wish (Fig. 4. This allows you to see all your friends' contact information; including their names, addresses, phone numbers, and email addresses in one single location (Fig. 5. You can use this feature in conjunction with the new Facebook Page integration if you wish or you can choose to ignore the Facebook Page integration entirely. Fig. 6 shows how we can configure our friend information in our address book so that we can view all of their contact information at once (including their Facebook Page information.
