Integration of Microsoft Exchange and Square

Microsoft Exchange

Microsoft Exchange is an email and cplaboration server from Microsoft. It was first released in 1992 as a standalone server, but nowadays it is included with the Microsoft Small Business Server, Enterprise Edition. It provides services for email, contacts, tasks, public fpders and calendaring. Some features of Microsoft Exchange are integrated with other Office products, like Outlook Web Access, which is used for webmail and Outlook Connector which is used for accessing Microsoft Exchange from Outlook.

Square

Square is a mobile payment system (hereafter referred to as MPS. that allows users to accept credit card payments using a mobile device. It was founded in 2009 by Jack Dorsey, Jim McKelvey and Twitter co-founder Ev Williams. In 2011, Square was valued at $1 billion according to Forbes. The company is a peer-to-peer system where sellers can pay 3% of the transaction cost to Square. Payment processing is done through a service called Visa/MasterCard Direct. Square has many ways to pay. through the phone app, a card reader or by simply entering the amount. Currently, Square has 2 million users who have made more than 10 million transactions every month, with a total value of more than $2 billion.

Integration of Microsoft Exchange and Square

There are several ways you could integrate Square with Microsoft Exchange, including direct integration of the two services and indirect integration by using third party applications.

Direct Integration of the Two Services

The diagram below shows how this integration would work:

Benefits:

Integration would be faster, since only one application needs to be updated if there are changes on either side of the integration.

Drawbacks:

Loss of security for both systems. Integration could mean that the data of either square or exchange could be hacked easier than if they weren't integrated at all.

Indirect Integration by Using Third Party Applications

The diagram below shows how this integration would work:

Benefits:

Systems are kept separate from each other, so no security issues would arise from integrating the two software systems together.

Drawbacks:

Square would need to create another application for it to work with other applications. This will mean that Square would have to continue updating both systems instead of just one. This will also put a strain on Square's resources if no third party applications exist that can help integrate these two platforms together. Regardless, integration will be very difficult due to differences in programming languages used between Microsoft Exchange and Square. Also, Square would need to create an API to allow other applications to access its data in order for integration to work. This API will have to be updated whenever there are changes to either platform.

The process to integrate Microsoft Exchange and Square may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
