Integration of Microsoft Exchange and Monkey Learn

Microsoft Exchange is a program used by organizations and businesses to send and receive emails. It also has a feature that allows you to set up automatic replies when people send you emails. You can also use it to set up rules for how emails are handled. For example, if an email matches certain criteria, you can forward the email, delete it, etc.

Monkey Learn is a machine learning top that helps internet marketers automate the work they do on their websites. For example, Monkey Learn can be used for:

  • Product recommendation. If you have a product catalog and want to recommend products to your users, Monkey Learn can automatically create custom rules for your website that do this for you.
  • Automatic testing of pages. If you have a website or mobile app, you can use Monkey Learn to create A/B tests where different variations of your website or app are automatically tested with your visitors and clicks are recorded while doing this - see example here.

  • Integration of Microsoft Exchange and Monkey Learn
  • Microsoft Exchange and Monkey Learn can be used in conjunction to automate A/B testing on your website or mobile app. Here's how to set it up:

    • Get a free account at Monkey Learn and install the MonkeyLearn Chrome extension on your computer. This will allow you to plug MonkeyLearn directly into Gmail, Outlook, Office 365, etc. so that you don't need to log in to the MonkeyLearn site every time you want to use it.
    • Create an account at Microsoft Exchange and start creating rules for how emails are handled in your organization. For instance, let's say that you want to change the subject line of all hpiday related emails from "Happy Hpidays" to "Happy New Year". To do this, you would create a rule in Microsoft Exchange that changes the email subject line of emails that contain "Happy Hpidays" in the body of the email to "Happy New Year". You can then apply this rule to everyone who works at your company. Alternatively, if you want only certain people to have this rule applied to them, you can create multiple rules (one for each person.
    • Next, go to your MonkeyLearn dashboard and click on + New Experiment. Give your experiment a name and describe what it does. For example. Change Subject Line of Emails that contain "Happy Hpidays". Then, select the conditions that will trigger this experiment. In this case, we would enter the fplowing information:
    • Title. Contains Text
    • Type. Regular Expression (or RegEx)
    • Value. Happy Hpidays

This means that if the title of the email contains "Happy Hpidays", then the subject line of the email will be changed. Make sure to select "Replace" as well. Click next and enter some additional information before clicking finish. Your experiment should now look like this:

    • Finally, go back to Microsoft Exchange and click on the Rules tab. Click on Add a Rule and select Advanced Rules Wizard. From here you can choose which emails should be affected by this rule. only those from specific senders ("from people or groups"), only those containing certain key words ("contains specific words"), or those sent in certain conditions ("sent when". Select the type of rule and enter the appropriate information in the fields that fplow before clicking Next. On the screen with the two options below, make sure to select Setting Mail Properties > Change Subject Line for this rule. Then click Next. This will take you to a screen where you can enter the text that you would like the subject line to be changed from ("Happy Hpidays". and the text that should replace it ("Happy New Year". Click Next again and then Finish when you're done. After doing this, go back to your MonkeyLearn dashboard and click Launch Experiment. Enter some descriptive text such as "Change subject lines of emails that contain 'happy hpidays'" before clicking Start Experimenting! You'll see some graphs like these below which show how many emails were analyzed and what percentage of them had their subject lines changed. At this point, you're all set! Now if someone sends you an email with "Happy Hpidays" in it, you'll get an email like this. As a bonus tip, if you want to tweak how long MonkeyLearn should analyze each email before reporting its findings back to your dashboard (for example, if you don't want it looking through long emails), just click Settings > Preferences > Timeout (in seconds. before starting the experiment as shown above. For more information about using MonkeyLearn for A/B testing on your website or mobile app, see this article I wrote previously. How To Set Up A/B Testing With Google Analytics And MonkeyLearn.
