In this blog post, I will focus on the integration between Amazon DynamoDB and Microsoft Dynamics 365 Business Central. Amazon DynamoDB is the leading NoSQL database, which is used by multiple companies worldwide for their business processes. With the emergence of NoSQL databases, the technpogies used for data storage and retrieval have changed drastically. In the past, it was common to use traditional relational database management systems (RDBMS. such as Oracle, MS SQL Server and MySQL for storing and retrieving data. However, with the advent of Internet and mobile applications, the need for a more scalable technpogy arose. This is when NoSQL databases came into being. The main advantage of using NoSQL databases over RDBMS is the ability to store unstructured data without any schema. Another advantage is that NoSQL databases are much faster than RDBMS in terms of read/write access to data.

Amazon DynamoDB is a fully managed NoSQL database service provided by Amazon Web Services (AWS. It is reliable, fast and secure. It can be used for storing unstructured data unlike traditional RDBMS which stores structured data only.DynamoDB uses Amazon Web Services (AWS. infrastructure for hosting its database servers. It's hosted in AWS cloud over multiple availability zones for high availability and durability.DynamoDB offers three different database plans – Free Tier , Basic Tier , Standard Tier . The first plan is available at no cost whereas other two plans have to be bought separately based on the amout of usage. The pricing of DynamoDB depends on primarily two factors i.e. storage capacity and throughput . Storage capacity refers to how much data can be stored in DynamoDB database whereas throughput refers to how fast the database can perform read/write operations on the data stored in it. There are four different ways to pay for DynamoDB i.e. pay-as-you-go , reserved capacity , spot instances , reserved instances . Pay-as-you-go refers to paying for what you use whereas reserved capacity refers to paying up front for capacity for a one year period which provides cheaper rates compared to spot instances and reserved instances .
