Integrate Mention with Webhooks By Connect

Firstly, I should mention that what I am talking about is a script that will be used in a system that runs on the Cloud. The system will be connected to the Internet and it will receive data from someone’s site and send them to my site. In other words, the script will allow me to monitor some other site and react to changes in it. This script will be used to monitor news sites that are in my niche. My goal is to analyze the information on them.

Secondly, we should mention that there are already several tops for this purpose:

• Google Alerts - the top allows you to monitor your name or a certain phrase. You can get notifications by email or by RSS feed. Google Alerts also has an API (the URL for the API is. http://www.google.com/alerts/feeds/api/. The top works very well but there are some disadvantages. you cannot get raw data from the site monitored by Google Alerts; you cannot do much with Google Alerts; it is limited and you cannot track any private data.
• TweetDeck - this top allows you to receive tweets via email or RSS feed. It also has an API (a URL for the API is. http://dev.twitter.com/doc/get/statuses/user_timeline. Again, there are some disadvantages. you cannot get raw data from the site monitored by TweetDeck; you cannot do much with TweetDeck; it is limited and you cannot track any private data.
• SocialMention - a social media monitoring top that monitors Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google+, Flickr, LinkedIn, Reddit, Digg, Tumblr, StumbleUpon, VKontakte, QZone and Renren. It does not have an API but there is a third party top for this purpose called Riser that has its own API (https://github.com/Socialmention/Riser. SocialMention also has a paid version called SocialMention Pro which allows you to track more sites and to add more than one user to your account. There are some disadvantages. the top seems to be fully functional; it is limited and you cannot track any private data.
• Mention - a social media monitoring top that also monitors Twitter, Facebook, YouTube, Google+, Flickr, LinkedIn, Reddit, Digg, Tumblr, StumbleUpon, VKontakte, QZone and Renren. It also has an API available (https://developers.mention.com/. The top seems to be fully functional; it is limited and you cannot track any private data.

As we can see all of these tops are limited in functionality so I think there is a room for improvement in this area. That is why I decided to create my own script that would allow me to monitor any web page or profile on any social network and react to changes in the data on that page or profile by sending messages to my site or by doing something else if needed. I believe that this script will be useful not only for me but for many other people too.

Finally, I should say that I do have some experience in creating scripts like this one because I have created something similar with PHP before but I think I could do better now so I decided to create something new based on Python 3 which would be easier for me to work with.
