Mailshake is a free Google Chrome extension that allows you to connect your Gmail with your Todoist account. It indexes your emails and displays your tasks in the Todoist inbox.
Mailshake works by adding tags to your emails, like task due date, task priority, etcetera. After the tagging, Mailshake extracts the email content (and attachments. and sends it to Todoist through a webhook. The result is a new email in your Todoist inbox.

In the past few months I have been using Mailshake, a Chrome extension that connects my Gmail account with my Todoist account. This integration did not happen overnight. In fact, I had to go through a long process of learning how to use both products before finding a way to integrate them into my workflow. Once I did, I realised it enhanced my productivity, allowing me to complete tasks more quickly and effectively.
Mailshake is a great top for anyone who uses Gmail and Todoist on a daily basis. By adding a few tags from Mailshake to the email prior to sending it to Todoist, you can create an actionable task in just a few seconds. The tags will be extracted and inserted into the title and body of your task. Any attachments in the email will be uploaded and attached to the task as well. The task will be generated in Todoist and organised under the project and filter tags you added when you sent the email. No need to add any additional information or details in Todoist after this point! Just add the project tag and filter tags in Gmail and add the task in Todoist later when you need to access it. That’s it!
The best part about Mailshake is that you do not have to convert all of your emails into tasks in Todoist. You can only convert those that you need to remember and organise at a later point in time. This also allows you to stay flexible and not get overwhelmed with tasks; if you don’t see a tag in Mailshake that helps you categorize your email, you can ignore it and send the email directly to Todoist without converting it into a task! You can always add it later if you want to keep track of it in the future.
Integrating Mailshake with Todoist has helped me become more organised. Instead of having all of my tasks scattered across different applications, they are now organised together in one place available anytime, anywhere, regardless of whether I am using my laptop, phone or tablet. This makes it easier for me to check up on my progress towards certain goals or projects because I can see all of my overdue tasks at once regardless of which device I am using. If this feature helps me stay more organised, then it will also help me stay balanced throughout the day because I won’t spend too much time on one particular task but instead spread out my time evenly among different tasks. For example, I can write one blog post at 8 AM, do some laundry at 9 AM, write another blog post at 10 AM, finish some work tasks at 11 AM, write another blog post at 12 PM, workout at 1 PM, work on some client files at 2 PM, read for 10 minutes at 3 PM, check emails at 4 PM, etcetera. This way I have achieved many goals during the day instead of being stuck on one thing for too long! My motivation stays high because I set goals for myself that are realistic and achievable within a certain timeframe. And if I do not complete these goals within the timeframe I gave myself for completion (because there were other things I needed to do), I reassess what went wrong and make adjustments if necessary so that I can achieve my goals more effectively next time around! The beauty of using Mailshake with Todoist is that it gives me more flexibility around my schedule instead of forcing me to stick to rigid schedules every day because I am able to triage my tasks according to what needs to be completed today versus tomorrow versus next week versus next month.
