Integration of Mailgun and Freshsales

Today, the number of emails sent per day is more than 200 billion and it is expected to reach 280 billion by 2020. With that much emails, the average bounce rate is also increasing. The bounce rate is defined as the ratio of emails bounced back to the sender and it is usually caused by an invalid email address or an out of office message.

That’s why there is an urgent need for a better way of sending emails. Mailgun has helped many companies with their email sending needs. It offers a simple API to send emails through its platform. It also has a quota system where the number of emails you can send for free is determined by your plan. If you do not use your quota in one month, it will be added to your next month quota. It also has a free plan if you only want to try it out first.

Mailgun has a lot of integrations with other well-known tops such as Appy Pie Connect, Google Sheets, and Slack. By integrating it with Freshsales, it allows sales reps to easily send emails to prospects. The prospect can even reply to the email without needing to log in to Salesforce and it will be recorded as a task in Salesforce.

Integration of Mailgun and Freshsales

To integrate Mailgun with Freshsales, you will need to fplow these steps:

First, you need to create an account on Mailgun. Go to Mailgun’s website and click on “Signup”. Enter your name, email address, and password. Then click on “Signup”. You will be prompted to sign in with your existing Google or Facebook account or you can create a new account with your name and password. Next, click on “Create Account”. Click on “Create Project” on the page that opens up. Once you have created the project, you will have to edit the domain name and subdomain name of your project in the dashboard. A domain name is a website’s address that ends with a .com or .net while a subdomain name is the part of your domain that comes after the dot. For example, if my domain name is www.mycompanyname.com then my subdomain name will be mailgunapp.mycompanyname.com. In Mailgun’s dashboard, go to Domains > Subdomains > Add New Domain. Then enter your domain name in the Add New Domain Name field and click on “Add Domain”. Next, you will need to set up your DNS records so that Mailgun knows how to point your domain to Mailgun’s servers. Go to Domains > DNS Records > Add Record. Replace “@” with your subdomain name (mailgunapp. and then click on “Add Record”. You will need a TXT record for verifying your domain with Mailgun. To do this, go to Domains > DNS Records > Add Record > Add TXT Record. Type @ in the Value Field and then type v=spf1 mx include:mailgun.org ~all in the Type Field. Then click on “Save Record” at the bottom of the page. This record is used for verification purposes and it tells Mailgun that you own that domain so that it can send out emails from that domain without having to worry about spam complaints from recipients. Next, you will need IP addresses so that Mailgun can send out emails using those IP addresses instead of using distribution lists or sending them from their server IP addresses. Go to Servers > Add Server > Add IP Address by clicking on “Add IP Address” at the bottom of the page. Fill up the form and click on “Add Address” when you are done. You can add multiple IP addresses depending on how many servers you have in your company or you can just have one IP address and point it to all of your servers; this works best if all of your servers are hosted in one location such as a data center or if they are all behind the same load balancer and firewall. Now that everything is set up, you can configure Mailgun and Freshsales integration by going to Sales > Integrations > Edit Integrations Settings > Mailgun App > Enable Integration > Connect Mailgun Account > Authorize App – this will open up a tab in your browser where you will log into Mailgun using your username and password > Click on Continue – this will redirect you back to Salesforce and you will see a confirmation message telling you that you have successfully connected your Mailgun account to Freshsales > Click on Ok in Salesforce > Switch back to Mailgun’s website and click on “Connect App” in their dashboard – this will redirect you back to Salesforce where it will start waiting for any email requests coming in – once it receives an email request, it will create a task in Salesforce automatically > Click on Ok in Salesforce

There used to be two problems before this integration was created – sales reps had to manually enter data into Salesforce like tasks until Mailgun came along and automatically sent tasks when an email was received through Mailgun; second problem is when sales reps tried sending template emails but duplicated information would get entered into Salesforce since they did not know how many times each email template was sent so no one knew which template was actually sent for each prospect or customer unless someone manually checked every single email but now with this integration between Mailgun and Freshsales, both problems are spved because now sales reps do not have to manually enter data into Salesforce and duplicate data entry is prevented because it is all automatically tracked through Mailgun.
