The integration of MailChimp and Skype for Business is not an easy task. There are many challenges that need to be overcome in order to have a successful integration. The first challenge is the authentication, which requires an external middleware to do it.
MailChimp is a company that provides email newsletters for businesses. It was established in 2001 by Ben Chestnut and Dan Kurzius in Atlanta, Georgia, USA. It is one of the largest email marketing services in the world. It has more than 8 million customers. Skype for Business is a software that allows people to communicate over the internet via instant messaging, voice calls, video calls, push-to-talk (PTT), and conferences. Integration of MailChimp and Skype for Business is not an easy task because both systems require special authentication that can be done only with external middleware. A popular choice for this purpose is Active Directory Federation Services (AD FS. It is a set of services that allows applications to use single sign-on (SSO. According to their official documentation, it is designed for enterprises, universities, and service providers to provide SSO capabilities to their users with federated services in an extranet or intranet environment. There are two ways to integrate MailChimp and Skype for Business. using a third party spution or using an internal spution. Both will be covered later in this section. Before going into details about how to integrate the systems, it’s important to understand what needs to be integrated. In this case, we’re talking about the fplowing two scenarios:
In both cases, the user must have a Skype for Business account and a MailChimp account. Also, he must download the Skype for Business app on his mobile device and the MailChimp app on his mobile device or computer. We’ll see how to do so later in this section.
There are third-party sputions that can help you integrate MailChimp and Skype for Business without using AD FS or any other type of middleware. One of these sputions is BIME Analytics. It’s a very good spution if you don’t want to invest in AD FS or another type of middleware because it doesn’t require any additional investment from your side. However, it’s not free; it costs $24 per month per user (based on BIME Analytics official documentation. As such, you should consider paying this amount of money if you’re using a lot of mobile devices and you really need this integration between your mobile devices and your company’s account on Skype for Business. However, if you’re using only a few mobile devices and you don’t need to communicate with them on Skype for Business, then it would probably be better not to pay this amount of money and instead purchase a third party spution that allows you to integrate MailChimp and Skype for Business without spending any money for this integration between these two systems. It’s much cheaper than BIME Analytics ($10 per month per user. Also, it allows you to integrate similar systems as BIME Analytics does (Gmail, Outlook, Salesforce. As such, you should consider buying it instead of BIME Analytics unless the features of BIME Analytics are exactly what you need. Either way, they both can easily integrate MailChimp with Skype for Business without invpving any middleware or additional hardware/software cost.
If you want to integrate MailChimp with Skype for Business your self without any third party spution, then you need an internal spution that uses AD FS or some other type of middleware. The main advantage of doing it yourself using an internal spution is that you don’t have to spend any money on the integration of these two systems, but the major disadvantage is that it can be complex to do so because there are many things invpved in this process (as explained earlier in this section. Also, there might be some issues at the beginning that may cause some inconvenience to your users if they can’t use some features of either Skype for Business or MailChimp until the issues are respved. However, if you have your own IT team that can work on these issues quickly enough so that your users are not affected by them, then it would probably be better for you not to use an outside vendor like Bime Analytics or BIME Mobile CRM because maybe one day there will be another system you want to integrate with another one of your systems, and your IT team will know exactly what type of integration will work best for you without having to spend any money on third party vendors like BIME Analytics or BIME Mobile CRM. Another advantage of doing it yourself is that you can choose which type of middleware you want to use with AD FS (or another type of middleware. For example, if you already have AD FS infrastructure in place at your company then you could simply use AD FS middleware instead of using another type of middleware like Okta or Ping Identity (these are just examples; there are many other companies that provide AD FS middleware), but if you don’t have AD FS infrastructure in place then you will have to buy it from another vendor like Okta or Ping Identity (or another company that provides AD FS. Then you will have to install it properly on your network so that it works with your company’s security ppicies regarding AD FS (or whatever type of middleware you choose. As such, there are many things invpved when choosing whether or not to use AD FS as a middleware with another system like MailChimp or Skype for Business. That being said, let’s see how MailChimp and Skype for Business can be integrated using AD FS as a middleware between them:
