MailChimp Ecommerce is an e-commerce platform that allows you to sell your products online and use MailChimp for e-mail marketing. This also enables you to seamlessly import your customers into MailChimp so they can be segmented and targeted with customized campaigns.
The Firebase Realtime Database is a cloud-hosted database. Data is synchronized in realtime, across connected clients. It supports structured data types including strings, arrays, objects, and documents, and it synchronizes in realtime whenever the data changes.
Integration of MailChimp Ecommerce and Firebase Realtime Database is very simple. You just need to make a few steps to start integrating them. After that, you can use both of them together.
Step 1. Create a MailChimp account
Visit https://www.mailchimp.com/accounts/signupew and create an account. If you already have a MailChimp account, feel free to log in to your account and proceed to step 2.
Step 2. Create an e-commerce store through MailChimp Ecommerce
Go to your MailChimp dashboard and select “Ecommerce” from the left menu. Then click “Get started” button. Fplow the instructions to create an e-commerce store. Note, if you don’t have a product catalog yet, it’s okay because you can add one later on. When you are done create your store, you will go back to the dashboard where you can manage all of your e-commerce settings, as shown below:
Now you’re able to get started selling your products! However, there’s still one thing that needs to be done before you can start selling your products – setting up your payment gateway. To do this, fplow this link. https://www.mailchimp.com/ecommerce/gateway-integrations/. Select the gateway that you want to use and fplow the instructions provided by their website to set up a connection between MailChimp Ecommerce and their payment gateway.
Lastly, you need to decide which currency should be used by default when selling products through MailChimp Ecommerce. To do this, go to https://www.mailchimp.com/ecommerce/pricing/#/settings/currency and select the currency that you prefer. Afterward, go back to your e-commerce dashboard by clicking “Your Store” option in top navigation bar as shown below:
Step 3. Enable API access for Firebase Realtime Database in your MailChimp account
After completing the steps above, now you need to enable API access for Firebase Realtime Database in your MailChimp account. To do this, go to https://www.mailchimp.com/accounts/permissionsew and click “Add New Permission” button as shown below:
Then select “Firebase Realtime Database” from the list of available options as shown below:
After choosing Firebase Realtime Database option, scrpl down until you find “Database Rules” section and add the rules as shown below:
Note that “Everyone” should be replaced with domain name or subdomain name (e.g.. api.example.com. However, if you aren’t using subdomain names, you can leave it as it is (i.e., “Everyone”. Finally, click “Save Changes” button as shown below:
