Magento is an e-commerce platform. Magento is a part of the e-commerce market that allows any user to create his own online store. The creation of an online store is a very useful top for any business, as it allows them to sell their goods without having to spend too much time and money on shop maintenance. What makes Magento even more valuable for businesses is that it is free.Magento has a large number of users all around the world, which testifies to its popularity. As we can see in the graph below, there are more than 250 active contributors who develop Magento:There are almost 50,000 third-party extensions developed for Magento. Those extensions allow Magento users to customize their online stores. This proves that users are very satisfied with what Magento offers! With this in mind, Magento has been chosen as the foundation for this project.Magento 2.X is the latest version of the open source e-commerce platform developed by the company Magento Inc., which was released at the beginning of 2016. Many new features were added to this platform. Two of those features are the integration with Cloud platforms and the improved performance. In order to achieve high performance, Magento 2.X is written in PHP. This language is very flexible and easy to use; however, it does not have native functions to deal with data visualization, which is why Tableau was chosen to be integrated into Magento 2.X.Tableau is a well-known company that specializes in data visualization software. It is a very powerful top that can perform complex calculations with ease. Tableau helps users to easily analyze data they receive from various sources. It can generate graphs and tables to display gathered information in a clear manner. It can also perform complex calculations, such as data aggregation or data transformation.Tableau's main focus is on interactive visualizations, which are generated in real time and displayed on Tableau's interface. Therefore, our project will focus on developing those visualizations and displaying them on Tableau's interface. The project will consist of several parts that will work together to produce a final result. The first step will be the integration of Magento 2.X and Tableau using an API provided by Tableau called Tabopa (Tabopa provides many other APIs as well. After we integrate these two systems, we will create visualizations for reports and create dashboards that will be displayed on the front page of our e-commerce site using Tableau's web interface. The display of our visualizations on Tableau's interface will allow us to compare our sales with the rest of the companies in our industry. The process of creating a dashboard requires only a few steps:
5. Creating a preview of the dashboard and publishing it on our online storeAfter this process is complete, we will have powerful tops and reports available to us on our online store through which we will be able to monitor our sales and compare them with the sales of other companies in our industry.
This project has proven itself to be successful; however, there are some points that could be improved upon in the future. For example, having a deeper understanding of how Tabopa works would allow for more flexibility in results and better user experience overall. Also, adding even more integrations (e.g.. Facebook API. would expand possibilities even further, allowing us to get even more data about our customers and create better reports for them in return.
The process to integrate Magento 2.X and Tableau may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
