Integration of Magento 2.X and Expensify

In today’s world of online businesses, even small enterprises need to have an online presence. The most popular option for this is web stores that sell products and services directly to customers. From the customers prospective, they are looking for ease of use, variety of products and services and best prices.Magento is an open source e-commerce spution that offers just that. They offer a full suite of e-commerce features including. shopping cart building, product listing, inventory management, shipping management, payment processing and much more. One of the most powerful features of Magento is its flexibility. It can be customized to fit into any type of business, large or small, that has an online storefront.Magento 2.X is the latest version of Magento and is still in its beta testing phase. It is a complete rewrite of the original Magento platform and is built with PHP 7 on top of the Symfony framework. It also incorporates many new features such as:Expensify changed its name from Expensr to Expensify in July 2013. It is designed to be used by businesses that need to track their employees spending and reimbursements in real time. It allows companies to create expense reports, approve or deny them and deposit payments into employees bank accounts right away.Expensify was launched in 2011 and it has been growing ever since. It now has over 60 employees and millions of customers around the world using the service. As of the time of writing this article they have processed $1.2 billion in expenses. The integration of Magento 2 and Expensify will provide benefits for both parties in terms of cost savings and increased usability. In this article I will explain how this integration can provide these benefits and why it makes sense for both companies to integrate their products together.

By integrating Magento 2 and Expensify it would allow merchants to easily integrate all their business data into one place. Currently merchants have to deal with multiple applications for each task that needs to be done. This can be very inefficient because each application may have different ways of doing things, which can lead to confusion. If merchants were able to access all this information in one place it would lead to less confusion and a quicker way of performing tasks such as approving expense reports, depositing payments and viewing sales reports.Expensify’s API is built on a simple concept. expense reports are created as transactions that are sent to “expense report categories”. Expense report categories are essentially sub-groups of transactions that can be grouped together for reporting purposes (e.g. gas expense reports. This concept is very similar to transactions being grouped together into orders in Magento 2.x. Therefore it would be easy to integrate Magento 2 transactions into Expensify expense report categories, so merchants could manage their business finances from one application. Creating expense reports in Magento 2 would create transactions and then these transactions would be sent to a category within Expensify. For merchants, managing expenses can be a complicated job at times. When employees submit their expense reports the person responsible (usually the CEO or CFO. has to go through all the reports and either approve or deny them based on company ppicy. Magento 2 does not have a built in function to do this, but it could easily be integrated with Expensify by creating a step between the report being submitted and hitting “approve” or “deny” on the report. This could be done by creating a step where employees submit their expense report to a certain category within Expensify and then approve or deny that category from within Magento 2, while having access to the details of the report on the other side. This integration could save merchants time by allowing them to do things like reject an entire expense report instead of marking individual expenses as inappropriate, saving time and effort when dealing with hundreds or thousands of expense reports per day.Integrating Magento 2 with Expensify would also make life easier for merchants who need to manage their employees’ reimbursements. These reimbursements are usually done after a certain amount of time (usually 2 weeks. and require a lot of manual work for someone at the top level of the company to go through all the expenses that employees are requesting reimbursement for and approve or deny them accordingly. By integrating the two systems together this process could be made much easier by performing each step automatically, without human intervention needed. Finally, integrating Magento with Expensify would help merchants better understand what they are selling by integrating sales numbers with expenses by category. This would allow merchants to see how much money they are spending on each category, which could help them make decisions about where they want to spend money on advertising or marketing based on actual numbers rather than guesses about potential costs/profits if they changed something about their marketing strategy or tactics.

In conclusion, integrating Magento 2 and Expensify would benefit both companies by making the lives of merchants easier and providing them with more accurate data about their business’s finances by linking sales numbers with expenses by category.
