Integration of macOS Calendar and Amazon S3

In the 21st century, we have been relying on a lot of cloud services for many things such as our health, education, shopping, entertainment and more. However, most of us do not realize the importance of these cloud services until something goes wrong with them.

For instance, just recently, Amazon Web Services (AWS. suffered from a major outage when the company was working on its High Availability S3 subsystem and caused parts of the internet to go offline. The outage lasted for several hours, taking down some of the world’s biggest websites.

As a macOS user, you may think that your personal information is safe and sound because macOS is not affected by this outage. But in fact, you are wrong.

Let me tell you why.

The macOS Calendar app uses iCloud Drive to store data. This includes your calendar events, synced notes, and bookmarks.

On the other hand, the macOS Calendar app uses Amazon S3 for storing data such as the journal entries and images uploaded by users.

According to an Apple support document, users can create or sync calendars between their Mac and iPhone devices through iCloud. By doing this, users will be able to view their calendars on all of their devices as well as edit events; however, they should also be aware that iCloud stores all items in a single location. They should take measures to back up their calendars regularly.

Does that mean that all of your calendars are stored in iCloud? No. The iCloud service is used only for synchronizing your calendars among your iOS devices and Mac computers, but it does not store any calendar data. In other words, your iCloud account does not store any calendar data for you. Instead, it stores an encrypted file that only the OS X Calendar app can read. In order to access the actual data, though, your computer needs to communicate with iCloud servers on a regular basis.

After reading this article. How to Sync Your Calendar in Mac OS X, you may have realized that it is not true about iCloud storing calendar data for you because it does not store any calendar data for you. So where is the real data located? It depends. Most likely it would be stored in your local disk, which means that you need to sync it with iCloud manually in order to make it accessible from other devices (such as your iPhone. But what if you don’t want to sync it with iCloud? Then you have another option. sync it with Amazon S3.

Amazon S3 stands for Amazon Simple Storage Service. It is a web service offered by Amazon Web Services for storing objects in the form of files and objects on the Internet as well as providing a means of publishing the same objects in different formats such as web pages or documents, to anyone on the Internet. It provides storage through web services interfaces (REST, SOAP, BitTorrent. It stores objects using HTTP or HTTPS protocps and also provides options for encryption and access contrp lists (ACLs. as well as storage management and content delivery for websites and other applications. With Amazon S3, you can create and store any amount of data at any time of the day and it is highly available as Amazon S3 is designed for durability of 99.999999999% of objects across multiple facilities. You can also use Amazon S3 with other AWS products such as Amazon Elastic Compute Cloud (EC2), Amazon SimpleDB, and Amazon Elastic Block Store (EBS. AWS customers are billed based on how much they use (storage space. and how long they keep the objects they store in Amazon S3 (the number of days they keep them. There are no upfront costs or commitments so you pay only for what you use. You can use a web-based management conspe in order to manage your AWS resources, upload files into buckets (storage locations), set permissions on buckets, retrieve files, etc. If you want to store your MacBook contents on Amazon S3 so that you could access them anytime from anywhere then you can use macOS Finder to move them there directly. However, if you want to sync your MacBook contents with iCloud automatically then you will have to use third-party software like Sync your MacBook with macOS Calendar app using AWS S3 instead of iCloud Drive because iCloud Drive does not allow you to sync your MacBook contents with anything else besides iCloud Drive itself whereas AWS S3 allows you to store files there directly without having to sync them with anything else first!

The process to integrate macOS Calendar and Amazon S3 may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
