Loyverse is a web 2.0 top that integrates blogging with twitter. Chatter is a twitter desktop application that allows users to add friends, upload photos, and post blogs and links. Together, these two tops can be used in the classroom to enhance learning experience of students.

Loyverse is a social networking site with features including blogging, photo sharing, instant messaging, and video chat. It is geared towards teenagers, but has grown to include a wider audience. While allowing teenagers to have fun through their online interactions, it also encourages them to make new friends and learn more about each other and themselves. The site runs on a freemium model. users can register for free, but must pay to use some features.

Chatter is an instant messaging program for Twitter, designed for Mac OS X. It allows users to send instant messages to other Twitter users without opening up a web browser or logging into Twitter. Users can also view their friends' tweets and reply to them by clicking on links (and other things. without leaving the application.

As I review the two tops (Loyverse and Chatter), I think of how they can be used in the classroom. They both have advantages and disadvantages when being used in the classroom. Teachers should consider what advantages and disadvantages these tops have when deciding on how they will be utilized in the classroom.

Students can use them as an outline for research papers and for other class assignments or presentations. Students can use Loyverse for gathering information for a presentation or paper, then use Chatter to post what they have gathered as well as links to their presentations and papers when they have completed them. If teachers want to integrate Loyverse and Chatter into their classroom they should set up accounts for all students so that they can communicate with each other using Loyverse during class time. This will allow students to ask questions, post information, and interact with each other on the same website without having to leave the classroom. Teachers should also make sure that students are fplowing the social networking rules of conduct when using Loyverse and Chatter in the classroom. Teachers might also want to set up groups of students who will be communicating with each other via Loyverse and Chatter to make it easier for the teacher to monitor what is happening while in class. Having students post their work on a blog will allow teachers to give feedback on their work which may not be possible if they do not know what projects the student is working on or have not seen their work. For example, if a student posts something that needs clarification or has errors in grammar or punctuation, teachers will be able to see what needs clarification or correction by seeing what they have posted on the site or what they have written in class. Teachers should also check out these sites periodically to make sure students are fplowing the rules of conduct stated at the beginning of the year on Loyverse and Chatter.
