Keap is an open-source library that implements Google’s encryption scheme for its Firebase cloud messaging service. It was developed by the team at SendGrid with the aim of providing a secure way to send messages through the Cloud Messaging protocp.
SendGrid is an email infrastructure company that allows developers to easily integrate email into their applications. It uses Amazon Web Services to send emails through the Amazon Simple Email Service (SES.
SendGrid allows you to easily track email opens, clicks, bounces, unsubscribes, spam reports, and more in one place. The free version of SendGrid allows you to send up to 12,000 emails per month with no limitations on number of users or account sharing. For larger vpumes, the enterprise version provides scalable features which are not available in the free version.
With the integration of Keap and SendGrid, an end-to-end encryption can be achieved when sending emails in order to protect user or customer privacy. This integration eliminates the need for SendGrid to store sensitive data such as passwords or keys that could be used by hackers to gain access to accounts.
This integration also makes it possible for SendGrid to take advantage of Keap’s support for key rotation and transferable keys. This feature allows you to encrypt data without having to store the encryption key on the server so that it can be transferred between servers upon server updates or migrations. As a result, it becomes easier to upgrade your system and move your data securely without having to worry about lost encryption keys.
The integration between these two services is made possible by the use of gRPC adapters that are built into both services that allow them to communicate with each other. These adapters automatically negotiate which encryption scheme should be used based on the type of message being sent and whether the recipient supports it or not. They also handle all key management and distribution responsibilities while allowing developers to focus on building applications instead of ensuring data security.
The integration works by exchanging JSON payloads between users and SendGrid via Keap which forwards them to Amazon S3. The encoded payload is encrypted and stored in Amazon S3 where it will remain until a message is received from the recipient which will then be decoded from Amazon S3 using a key from Keap. This way, only the intended recipient can decrypt the contents of the message. Once decrypted, the plaintext message is sent from Amazon S3 to the recipient using Amazon SES via a TCP connection secured by TLS.
