Recently, more and more people are using JotForm to create their web forms. JotForm is a simple but powerful online form builder that makes it easy for you to create beautiful, branded online forms in minutes. JotForm has many features like:
Drag-and-drop interface
4 Form Types (Text, Checkbox, Dropdown, Radio Button)
Free Templates
Built-in Analytics
Multiple Integrations (PayPal, Google Apps, ZohoCRM, Salesforce, GitHub, MailChimp, DocuSign, Zapier)
Webhooks
Automated email delivery
Customer support
As an example of these features, I use JotForm to build my own online form called “Contact Us”. If you want to see the form, go ahead and visit my website.
However, not everyone is able to fill out this form by themselves. Many of them try to fill out the form through Google Chrome’s application or some other browsers’ application. However, they get stuck at JotForm’s captchas. Fortunately, JotForm now has a Captcha Spver feature that allows users to spve those captchas automatically! Now users can enter the captcha codes from the screenshot automatically without having to wait for a human being to spve those captchas!
In addition to that, users can also use JotForm as a web applet on their browser so they can enter data onto their forms even when they don’t have a browser open!
JotForm also provides a way to export data from a form into a CSV file. This feature is a great top for users who want to use the information from a form as input data for another program!
Now let me introduce Odoo CRM. Odoo CRM is a free software that helps small and medium-sized companies manage leads, customers, and sales teams. If you want to know more about Odoo CRM, please check out their official website. You will find many articles talking about Odoo CRM there.
Odoo CRM is a really popular platform in the open source world. It has over 21 repositories on GitHub with over 1.5 million lines of code.
Many people around the world are already using Odoo CRM. For this reason, we need to integrate Odoo CRM with other platforms such as JotForm! Now let’s take a look at how we can do this integration step by step!
First we need to install a plugin called JotForm Plugin on our Odoo CRM instances. To do so, we first need to log in to our Odoo CRM instance and click “Settings” on the left side bar and then select “Plugins” from the list of options. From the plugins page, click “Install plugin” and search for “JotForm”. Then you should see something like this:
Here we can see that we can install 3 types of plugins:
JotForm – A plugin that allows us to integrate JotForm with Odoo CRM; JotForm – Email – A plugin that allows us to send emails from within Odoo CRM; and JotForm – Website – A plugin that allows us to integrate our Odoo CRM instance with external websites such as JotForm.
The latter two plugins are not what we are looking for right now so let’s just click “Install” under the “JotForm” section. We will be asked for an administrator password so enter it if you are sure you are logged in as an administrator otherwise click “Cancel” and ask your system administrator to install this plugin for you.
The installation process will take some time depending on your internet connection speed so please be patient until the installation completes. Once the installation completes successfully, you will be asked to restart your server so click “OK” to do so. After your server is restarted successfully, you will be taken back to the plugins page where you will see something like this:
Now we are ready to configure the plugin by clicking on “Configure” which is located at the right hand side of the plugin’s name. We will be taken to this screen:
From here we can configure our external website settings by clicking on “Advanced Settings” located at the top part of the page. We will be taken to this screen:
From here we can enter our external website credentials which includes our JotForm account name and API key which can be found on your JotForm account page. Please note that only administrators can access some of these settings so if you are not able to edit some of these settings, ask your system administrator to change them for you. After entering all of these details, just click “Save Changes” at the bottom part of the page and then press “Save Changes” again after confirming your changes just like what we did here:
Now we are ready to create some forms using Odoo CRM! Let’s take a look at how it works. First we need to click on “Create New Form” on our Odoo CRM instance which is located at the top part of the page next to where users can log into their accounts:
We will be taken to the fplowing screen:
From here we can create new forms by specifying some fields like Name, Description, etc., but most importantly we need to specify our external website by clicking on “Advanced Settings” located at the top section of the page:
We should see something like this:
If your account name and API key are correct, you should see something like this:
If so then everything is set up correctly so you can start adding fields for your form! You can add fields by clicking on “Fields…” which is located at the top section of the page next to your account name:
Once you click on it, you will be able to add new fields for your form! Here is what it should look like:
You can add any type of field for this form like textboxes (text), radio buttons (radio button), checkboxes (checkbox), dropdowns (dropdown), etc., but please make sure you put them inside containers (div tags. If you don’t do this then you won’t be able to view them in your form! To show the containers in your form you need to click on “Show Container(s)” located at the top section of the page next to where users can log into their accounts:
