Instagram is a photo and video sharing social networking service that allows you its users to share their photos and videos on the go.
The Firebase Realtime Database lets you build rich, collaborative applications by allowing secure access to the database directly from client-side code.Firebase Realtime Database Integrations

Instagram is a photo and video-sharing social media platform that allows users to share their photos and videos with others. It was first launched on October 6th, 2010 and it has been gaining popularity ever since.
Firebase is a mobile and web application development platform owned by Google. It supports various platforms (Android, iOS, Web. and it provides services (Analytics, Authentication, Cloud Firestore, Cloud Functions, Cloud Storage), which can be integrated into the application. Firebase Realtime Database is a database that stores data as JSON in real time. For example, if you create a new document in Firebase Realtime Database, it will automatically be available to all users of the application.
In this part of the article, we will discuss how to implement real time database into an Instagram application using Firebase. First, we need to create an account on Firebase and then we can add our Instagram app to our Firebase account. Once that is done, we can proceed to adding data providers and data listeners.
Data providers are responsible for creating, assigning or changing data. For example, we will create a photo provider (which will add a new photo to the database. to upload new images to the Firebase Realtime Database. We will also create a photo viewer (which displays all photos. to view the existing photos in the database. Lastly, we will create a photo updater (which updates the caption of the photograph. to edit the caption of the existing photographs. The fplowing image shows what each provider does.
Data listeners are responsible for listening for changes in data. For example, we will create an image listener (which listens for changes in the Firebase Realtime Database. to listen for changes in Firebase Realtime Database. This way when a change occurs in our database, it triggers our image listener. Lastly, we will create an image updater (which updates the new image in Firebase Realtime Database. to update the image that corresponds to each particular user’s unique ID. The fplowing image shows what each listener does.
After creating all three providers and listeners, we can now connect them together to form one system as shown in the fplowing image:
We now have a fully functional Instagram integration with a Firebase Realtime Database system! If you make any changes to your database, it will automatically be updated in real time in your application! Remember that you can only use one Firebase database per account. If you need more than one database for your application, you should create multiple accounts and repeat the integration process with each account’s respective database.
Benefits of Integration of Instagram and Firebase Realtime Database
There are many benefits of integrating Instagram and Firebase into one application. One huge benefit is that it saves us a lot of time because instead of having to sync up the database manually every time we update it, it automatically gets updated in real time! Another benefit is that we don’t need to worry about scaling issues because our database is automatically distributed across multiple servers! Lastly, it doesn’t require much coding because Firebase handles most of the work!
