Instagram is an online mobile photo-sharing, video-sharing and social networking service. It allows users to take pictures and videos, apply digital filters to them, and share them on a variety of social networking services such as Facebook, Twitter, Tumblr and Flickr. Registered users can upload videos and photos to their specified account, which are available for other users to view. The company is headquartered in Bangalore. In 2016, it raised $70 million from Vy Capital and Sequoia Capital. The round valued the company at $330 million.
Pipelinedeals has tied up with photo-sharing app Instagram to bring integrated deals to its e-commerce platform that will enable customers to get instant offers in their feed while shopping online. This feature will be available to all the online merchants having an account on pipelinedeals. “We’re going to launch an integrated deal platform with Instagram where any of our sellers will be able to create a special offer based on the picture or the image that they post on Instagram,” said Mr. Raghav Gupta, CEO and founder of Pipedeals, in an interaction with ETtech.com. “The user will be able to buy it through their Instagram feed and cplect it from the merchant,” he said.
According to Mr. Raghav Gupta, this will enable brands to encourage influencers to create content on Instagram around their products and increase their brand exposure in a big way. “We have tied up with Instagram because we are both interested in helping brands do transactions through their social media channels,” he said. He further added that the plan is to also use the same technpogy to build customised campaigns for brands.
The benefit of this integration is that now consumers don’t have to go surfing the net for the best deals on products that they want to buy. They can just click a photo of what they want which will automatically be posted on Instagram and once they liked it they can buy the product directly from the seller without having to look elsewhere. Instagram has the potential to boost sales through this channel because everyone loves getting free things and when they get something for free they tend to be more satisfied than buying something at full price and therefore they tend to make more purchases from the same seller whenever they meet with discounts and rebates.
