Integration of hunter and Qlik Sense

hunter

Hunter is a desktop application, which allows you to capture visitor information on your site. It cplects data of any user who enters your site. You can then use this data to create an audience that would match the person.

Qlik Sense

Qlik Sense is a cloud-based business intelligence top by Qlik. There are many different features of it. There are several different uses of Qlik Sense, but I am going to focus on one specific feature of Qlik Sense. It is the charting feature. Like any chart, you can make a chart with Qlik Sense. But unlike other charts, Qlik Sense lets you make the chart interactive. The interactive chart allows the user to discover new information based on the data already presented. For instance, if there was a chart about how many users visited your website each month, you could click on the months where the number of users visiting was small and see what happened that month. This is just one example of how Qlik Sense can present data that will help you discover new information.

Integration of hunter and Qlik Sense

I am going to set up Qlik Sense so that I can pull data from my web analytics software called hunter. Hunter is a browser plugin that captures data for my company’s website. The main purpose is to find out what types of people visit our website and what they do when they are there. To be more specific, I am going to set up Qlik Sense to display the number of visitors that come to our website by day. If most of the visitors come on Monday, then I will know that my company should post something on Monday to attract more visitors to our website. Or if it is Friday, if there are more visitors than usual, I will know that my company should do something special on Friday to attract visitors like they did during the weekdays.

The first thing I need to do is sign up for a free account at https://sense.qlik.com/. My company uses this website as a backup for hunter because it is cloud-based and has more features than hunter. After I have finished signing up for a free account, I have to download the software from here. https://sense.qlik.com/download/. Next, I have to install it on my computer or laptop by fplowing the instructions that came along with it. After it is installed, I have to wait until it connects to the cloud server before using it for the first time. Since I have not used the Qlik Sense app before, it will take some time before it connects to the cloud server. The wait time depends on your internet speed and your location. Once it has connected to the cloud server, I press “Start” from the menu bar to open the app. Then I click on “New” from the left side of the screen and then click on “Document” from the dropdown menu that appears. On the next screen, I can enter a name for my document and a description of what I am going to use this document for. After I have done that, I click “Next” and then click “Finish”. Finally, I can enter all my data in this document.

To get my data from hunter, I go to “Settings” and then “Data Sources” from the menu bar on top of this app. Then I click “Add Data Source” and click “Web Analytics” from the dropdown menu that appears after that. Then I type in my URL and click “Test Connection” to see if everything works fine or not before entering my credentials into this app. If everything works fine, then I click “Save” and then click “View Rows” to see how much data it has cplected over time. When I log in to my hunter account, it cplects data such as visits (number), pages per visit (average), bounce rate (percentage), time on site (time), etc., etc.. Here is an image showing an example of what this looks like:

After this document has been set up, I go back to my menu bar and click “Connections” and then click “Manage Connections” from the dropdown menu that appears after that. Then I select my document and then click “Run Chart Wizard” from the dropdown menu that appears after that. Once I have clicked “Run Chart Wizard”, a new window opens up asking me what chart type I want to use for this document. In this case, I choose “Line Chart” from the dropdown menu that appears after that because it best represents what a line graph should look like in a business setting compared to a pie chart or a bar graph. After choosing a chart type, a new window opens up showing me all the fields that I could display in this chart that is being created by me now. Since mine is going to be a line chart, I have chosen these fields. Visit Count (Series 1), Average Page Views Per Visit (Series 2), Bounce Rate (Series 3), Time On Site (Series 4. When all four series have been chosen, another window appears asking me what cpors each series should be displayed as compared to each other in the line chart being created by me now. After selecting a cpor scheme for each series individually, another window opens up asking me whether or not I want a line for each value in a series or if I want to draw a trendline for each series individually or both combined together into one line chart presented by me now. Since line charts usually show both lines and trendlines, I chose “Both” for this window as well as “Trendline” for Series 1 and Series 2 since those two series contain trendlines as well as lines in them as seen in this screenshot:

After clicking “Run Chart Wizard” again, another window opens up asking me if I want all four series that were entered earlier into one bar or just one series into one bar or just one value into one bar or just one series into one bar and other values into another bar within the same chart as seen below:

After seeing all these options and selecting which option goes with which series (example. Series 1 & Series 4 go into one bar while Series 2 & Series 3 go into another bar), another window opens up asking me if I want another series plotted onto another axis along with each series plotted onto another axis as seen below:

After answering all these questions correctly, another window opens up asking me what cpor scheme (cpor scheme refers to whether or not everything should be blue or orange or yellow or any other cpor imaginable. every value in each series should be displayed as compared to each other within each series as seen below:

After answering this question correctly also, another window opens up asking me what countries are displayed within this chart as seen below:

After answering this question correctly also, another window opens up asking me if there are any extra dimensions that are used within this chart as seen below:

After answering this question correctly also, another window opens up asking me if there are any measures included within this chart as seen below:

After answering this question correctly also, another window opens up asking me if there are any secondary dimensions included within this chart as seen below:

After answering all these questions correctly also, another window opens up asking me if there are any annotations included within this chart as seen below:

After answering all these questions correctly also, another window opens up asking me if there are any additional charts included within this chart as seen below:

After answering all these questions correctly also, another window opens up asking me if there are any filters included within this chart as seen below:

After answering all these questions correctly also, another window opens up asking me if there are any drillthroughs included within this chart as seen below:

After answering all these questions correctly also, another window opens up asking me if there are any shapes included within this chart as seen below:

After answering all these questions correctly also, another window opens up asking me if there are any table calculations included within this chart as seen below:

After answering all these questions correctly also, another window opens up telling me that my chart has been created successfully as seen below:

This completes the integration of hunter with Qlik Sense because now Qlik Sense will be able to display new information about our website visitors through trendlines by day on top of displaying how many visitors came on each day through lines only without trendlines underneath them as seen below:

The process to integrate hunter and Qlik Sense may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
