I’m pretty sure that you’ve heard about HubSpot before. It is an inbound marketing and sales platform. Meant to help small businesses create leads, and manage their own content. The main thing you need to understand about HubSpot is that it makes your website a marketing machine, which can be configured to automatically create content, such as blog posts, articles, social media updates, videos, webinars, etc.
HubSpot has been around since 2006, and they are constantly adding new features, expanding the functionality of existing features, and improving their overall user experience. In 2014 they acquired my former employer, Performable. This allowed them to add performance tracking and analytics to their platform. Their latest acquisition was Siteleaf this past October 2016.
Siteleaf is a WordPress plugin (for now), which allows users to create and manage blog posts without ever leaving the WordPress admin area. If you have ever used WordPress before, then you know how frustrating it can be to make changes to blog posts. You have to download a text editor such as Sublime Text or Notepad++, upload your post to your server via FTP, and then make all the necessary changes there. Then you have to FTP the post back up to your server, and finally go back into WordPress and do a save. There are plugins available which automate some of this stuff, but it still takes a lot of time and effort. This is where HubSpot and Siteleaf come in. HubSpot integrates with Siteleaf. Which allows you to create blog posts directly in HubSpot, and not having to deal with FTPing stuff back and forth.
Siteleaf is an all-in-one hosted content management system (CMS. It has everything you need to create and manage content for your website or blog. You can edit HTML code on the front end, as well as make changes directly from the admin area. It integrates with Google Analytics, Google Search Conspe (formerly known as Google Webmaster Tops), Google AdWords, Facebook Ads, Twitter Ads, LinkedIn Ads, Amazon Associates, Shopify and more! You can also automate repetitive tasks by setting up “rules” within Siteleaf. For example, if someone leaves a comment on your blog post, you can configure Siteleaf to automatically send that person an email asking them to reply directly to your email address or even phone number. You can also configure Siteleaf to automatically post new blog posts on social media sites such as Facebook or Twitter when you publish them on your site.
The integration of these two platforms is extremely simple. Just install the HubSpot app on your account within Siteleaf. Log into your HubSpot account through Siteleaf and you will see a new option appear under the “Add New Thing” button in the top right corner of your screen. It should look like this:
Once you click on it a pop-up window will appear prompting you for your HubSpot login credentials, if you haven’t already logged in through Siteleaf previously. Once logged in, you can start creating new content right away! You will see a new button appear after every paragraph that says “Edit In HubSpot” like this:
If you click on any of those buttons it will take you to the corresponding section of HubSpot where you can edit that particular piece of content. Now all you have to do is edit it in HubSpot and hit save! That’s it! All you have to do is make sure that the text that displays on each page matches what was originally entered into HubSpot so everything stays consistent! If you don’t already use a top like Ommwriter or Forest App for writing purposes then I highly recommend checking out Ulysses if you don’t want to spend money on another writing app! It syncs with Dropbox so it is super easy to save your work online in case anything happens to your computer or hard drive! It also has Markdown support which makes writing so much easier! Here are some screenshots of me creating this article within Ulysses:
This integration has saved me so much time over the years since I started using it! Not only does it speed up my workflow but it also eliminates so much of the frustration that comes along with using WordPress. I just love this product because it makes my job so much easier! I’m sure there are other tops out there that integrate with WordPress in a similar fashion but I have had great success with this one! There are a few drawbacks though:
