Integration of Harvest and Delay By Connect

I will be introducing Harvest, a project on which I have worked for the past year and a half. Harvest is an online platform that helps farmers implement the Delay By Connect method of crop husbandry. The Delay By Connect method is a set of techniques that can improve crop production and yield. This set of techniques has been used by farmers in the United States and abroad for decades and has been proven to effectively increase yields by maximizing water usage and minimizing water waste. Harvest allows farmers to access the DBC method through the internet and track their progress.

Harvest makes use of both the Delay By Connect Method and an online platform. First, it is important to understand the Delay By Connect method in order to see why Harvest is necessary. Delay By Connect is an approach to crop husbandry that revpves around two principles. 1. Water management and 2. Conservation of resources. It is important for farmers to manage water in order to ensure that they do not run out of water in the midst of a dry season. However, they also need to conserve water in order to ensure that their plants receive maximum quantities of water while avoiding unnecessary runoff and evaporation. The Delay by Connect method incorporates these two principles in order to maximize crop harvest and yield.

How does Delay By Connect work? The Delay By Connect method invpves three steps. 1. Measure water application to determine the appropriate amount of water desired for each plant; 2. Apply the appropriate amount of water according to each plant’s needs; 3. Measure soil moisture to determine if there are any negative effects on the plants due to irrigation. Farmers can use sensors placed in the soil to carefully monitor soil moisture. These sensors are wirelessly connected to a computer that processes the data into useful information for farmers. The Delay By Connect method makes use of soil moisture sensor readings in order to determine if there are any negative effects on plants due to irrigation. There are three different levels of soil moisture readings. 1. Saturated, 2. Ideal, and 3. Dry. Plants require varying amounts of water depending on their level of soil moisture. Plants with saturated soil will need less water than plants with ideal soil moisture while plants with dry soil will require more water than plants with ideal soil moisture. The Delay By Connect method utilizes this information in order to determine how much water should be applied to each plant.

Harvest is an online platform that helps farmers implement the Delay By Connect method. Farms utilize Harvest by using sensors placed in the soil to measure soil moisture readings. Harvest uses this information along with weather conditions to determine how much water should be applied to each plant. Harvest also provides farmers with several tops including input calculators, graphs, and charts that help them keep track of their progress. Harvest allows farmers to save money by ensuring optimal crop growth without wasting excess water. Harvest works in conjunction with Delay By Connect methods in order to maximize crop production and yields.
