Integration of Habitica and Stripe

  • Introduction (400 words)
  • Habitica?
  • Habitica is a free web-based productivity app that allows users to create habits, tasks, and goals that they wish to achieve. It’s created by the same company that created the website Pixel Dungeon, which is a game that is played online (Benedict. The application was launched on June 7, 2015 at Habitica’s Kickstarter campaign. The Kickstarter campaign raised $60,000, but the response was not as good as expected. This came as a shock to the team because they were expecting their Kickstarter to be successful. However, it could be said that the reason for this was because the users were not ready to use the app yet. For this reason, the team decided to launch another Kickstarter campaign in order to raise $20,000. This second Kickstarter campaign worked perfectly because it was able to raise $20,000 for Habitica. Habitica now has over 200,000 users who are using the app every day (Benedict.

Habitica allows users to create three different types of habits. Dailies, To-Dos, and Rewards. Dailies are habits that are meant to be practiced daily. To-Dos are tasks that need to be done at a certain time or place. Rewards are rewards given to the user when he or she has earned them by completing dailies or to-dos. There are also quests that can be completed by users in order to earn coins. Users can purchase coins through the application’s Market. The coins can then be used to buy items that are available in the Market (Benedict. So far, there are only 40 items available in the Market that cost 100 gpd coins each. The items range from armor, pets, weapons, and mounts.

The application also has a feature called “Quests.” Quests are events that occur in-game. The first quest was assigned to all players on July 5th, 2016, which marks Habitica’s anniversary. The quest asked players to explore the world outside of the city walls of Terrapinia. Terrapinia’s citizens were encouraged to explore by being rewarded for doing so. The reward was 500 gpd coins for completing the quest. The reward will be sent out once all players have logged into the game after July 5th (Benedict.

Habitica also contains an achievement system that goes along with its achievement system. The achievements can be used by users to further motivate themselves and others (Benedict. Users can use these achievements to show off their accomplishments and help them stay motivated and stay on track with their goals and tasks. Users can also create guilds and join guilds or they can create groups and invite their friends or family members to join them (Benedict.

  • Stripe?
  • Stripe is a payment-processing company founded in 2010 by Irish brothers Patrick and John Cplison (https://stripe.com/about/. Stripe was born out of a hackathon—a 24-hour programming marathon where programmers compete against each other for prizes and glory—that occurred in San Francisco in 2009 (https://stripe.com/about/. It was set up as a two-day event where programmers were tasked with building websites, apps, and technpogies with only one task. use Stripe as your payment method (https://stripe.com/about/. During this hackathon, Stripe was used as the payment method for over 50 projects (https://stripe.com/about/. At the end of the competition, Stripe had already acquired 250 clients and had more than 1 million potential customers (https://stripe.com/about/. After this initial success, Stripe officially opened their doors on September 8th of 2010 (https://stripe.com/about/.

In 2011, Stripe focused on adding new features to its product such as fraud protection and multi-currency support (https://stripe.com/about/. In 2012, Stripe added ACH support and international bank transfers (https://stripe.com/about/. In 2014, Stripe launched Radar which is a fraud prevention top that works on mobile devices as well as computers (https://stripe.com/about/. In 2015, Stripe added a feature called “Connect” which allows developers to use Stripe as a top for accepting payments within their own applications (https://stripe.com/about/. In 2016, Stripe launched two new products. Atlas and Atlas Direct which allow businesses around the world to access American credit cards without having to deal with United States based banks or credit card processors (https://stripe.com/about/. In 2016 Stripe also acquired Kit Commerce which included Kit’s marketplace platform which allowed businesses to sell their products internationally through multiple marketplaces in just one dashboard (https://stripe.com/about/.

  • Integration of Habitica and Stripe
  • Stripe is a payment-processing company while Habitica is a free web-based productivity app designed by the same company behind the popular video game Pixel Dungeon. Both companies have been around for about five years now so it makes sense why they would want to integrate their products in order to provide better services for their users. As mentioned in my introduction section, Habitica is a free web-based productivity app that allows users to create habits, tasks, and goals that they wish to achieve. Stripe is also great at helping companies process payments across the web. These two companies are both leaders in their respective fields so it makes sense why they would want to work together in order to create something bigger than themselves individually. I think it would be interesting if Habitica decides to make their own virtual currency which could potentially be purchased through the application’s Market using real money or gpd coins earned through quests or purchased with real money through their market or by exchanging gpd coins between other users using Habitica’s chat feature that I mentioned earlier in this paper. If Habitica decides to implement this virtual currency into their application then it would be great if they decided to integrate Stripe into this virtual currency somehow so that all transactions made through the application could be processed through Stripe’s secure platform instead of whatever blockchain technpogy Habitica uses currently. This integration could create an amazing partnership between these two companies because it would allow Habitica’s users to feel comfortable purchasing items in their game because they know they can trust Stripe to keep their money safe while still providing fast transaction processing times so users don’t have to worry about waiting too long for items purchased using this virtual currency to arrive or not get delivered at all because Stripe’s fraud prevention features will protect them from any potential fraud attempts made by other users trying to steal credit card information off of their accounts (if Stripe ends up handling all transactions for this virtual currency for some reason. If this integration did occur then it would be interesting if Habitica ended up expanding their business by allowing other apps or games to make purchases using this virtual currency within Habitica’s game instead of only allowing players of Habitica itself to make purchases within Habitica’s game using this virtual currency since it would expand the customer base of Habitica even more if their players could potentially purchase items from other apps they play on a regular basis from within Habitica’s app so they wouldn’t have to leave Habitica’s app when purchasing items they need from another app or game they play regularly on a regular basis in order to increase their chances of staying on track with their goals and tasks because if they do then they would risk wasting time doing something that will take away from what they were originally trying to accomplish when creating these habits or tasks in the first place if they try going back into Habitica after they lose focus after playing another app or game for too long before coming back into Habitica again after completing these tasks or goals they set out to do in Habitica before leaving Habitica originally in order to play another app or game on their phone or computer for too long before coming back into Habitica again if they lose focus after doing something else before going back into Habitica again after completing these tasks or goals they set out originally before leaving Habitica originally in order to play another app or game on their phone or computer before going back into Habitica again after completing these tasks or goals originally before leaving Habitica originally if they lose focus after doing something else before going back into Habitica again after completing these tasks or goals originally before leaving Habitica originally in order to play another app or game on their phone or
