Introduction. Habitica? Mautic? How do they integrate? I’ll tell you!
Body. The integration of Habitica and Mautic will make both services more valuable to their users. This integration will enable a new level of functionality for each platform while also providing sustainability for both companies. In this article, I will discuss three main areas of integration. API, API, and API. API stands for Application Programming Interface. API is a set of programming instructions for either a hardware or software application to communicate with another application. API’s are used by every smart phone to interact with Google, Facebook, Twitter, SoundCloud, Spotify, and many other apps that we use every day. API’s usually have a certain set of instructions that they can give to an app. For example, API’s for Google Drive have a command that tells the API to “open a file”. API’s can be used to add functionality to an app like “Open a file” or “Create a task in Habitica”. API’s can also be used to pull information from one app into another app. For example, API’s for Google Tasks can be used to pull tasks from Google Tasks and import them into Habitica. API’s don’t always need to be hooked up to an app in order to function. API’s can pull information from the internet into your computer or laptop without ever launching the app that you want the information in. API’s can do everything from sending text messages to sending emails. API’s can even do things like turn on your TV. API’s can be found in many different places across the internet. You can find API’s for almost anything on Github, which is a website where programmers post code for other programmers to use in their projects. There are also API platforms such as Zapier and IFTT (If This Then That. These platforms allow users to create custom API combinations using different API’s that they have connected to their accounts. IFTT was the original API platform that most people heard about first. Zapier is bigger now but was later created because IFTT didn’t offer any paid plans until 2015. There are many articles about how IFTT became popular then Zapier grew into what it is today. When IFTT didn’t plan on charging users, Zapier came along with their free plan and offered more advanced features than IFTT did at the time. I think it is important to note that Zapier is designed for small businesses whereas IFTT is designed for individuals who are looking to automate some of their everyday tasks. Now that you understand what an API is and why it is important for developers to know how to use them, let’s continue with our discussion about Habitica and Mautic integration. Habitica has over 10 Million registered users. On the other hand, Mautic only has about 23 Thousand registered users. This means that there are at least 7 Million potential users who could make Mautic their marketing automation software if Habitica was integrated with it. This would be great for Mautic because they could gain many new customers which would help them become sustainable even if they couldn’t do it all on their own. This would also be great for Habitica because they could bring millions of new users onto their service which would help keep them sustainable as well. They already have millions of users so they don’t need millions more, but they do need more than they currently have if they plan on becoming profitable in the future. It might take a few months but I won’t stop working at it until I find a way to make this happen! I am going to start with Google Calendar because it seems like the easiest one out of all of them and if I can get this working then the rest should be easy too!
