Hello, everyone! My name is John and I am a student studying in University of California in the USA. I am currently a major in Computer Science and my minor is in Management Information Systems. I will be writing a 12-page paper for my course about Digital Marketing. It is an online class and it requires me to create a blog. I have chosen to write a blog about Habitica and GetResponse since they are related to my industry. I hope you enjoy the blog!
What Is Habitica?
Habitica is a habit-building app that helps you improve your life. Users have said that it's helped them with everything from being more consistent about going to the gym, taking daily vitamins, and doing chores - to making a dent in their massive backlog of video games. The app gamifies productivity by rewarding you with experience points, gpd coins, and other goodies for completing tasks. You can even have your friends join Habitica's party and help you stay motivated![1]
Habitica is a project management top created by Adam Dachis in 2012.[2] It was originally called "Habiticane" until the site underwent a complete re-design in 2015 to become what it is known as today. The site is accessible through the web browser and mobile devices. It features game mechanics similar to those found in rpe-playing games (RPGs), such as earning experience points (XP. for completing tasks, earning gpd coins, and levelling up one's avatar (called an "avatar". These elements are used to motivate users to complete tasks on the to-do list. They also contribute towards rewards like equipment, mounts, pets, achievements, or extra character skills. Habitica is similar to other habit tracking apps like Coach.me, Clear, or Lift; however, it also has social networking elements built in so users can connect with friends who also use Habitica to encourage each other.[3]
Habitica displays an ongoing list of tasks called "quests", which users can mark off when completed. An inventory system allows users to cplect "items" usable in crafting potions and upgrading equipment to advance their character.[4]
Habitica's quest system includes several types of quests. Daily quests are given every day, while To-Do list quests typically take longer than one day but less than 30 days to complete. Other types include Event Quests, Daily Dailies, Guild Daily Dailies, Guild To-Dos, Habit List Challenges, Daily Challenges, Daily Habits, Daily To-Dos, Daily Dailies, Daily Dailies II, Daily Dailies III, Daily Dailies IV, Daily Dailies V, Daily Dailies VI, Daily Dailies VII, Daily Dailies VIII, Daily Dailies IX, Daily Dailies X, Daily Dailies XI, Daily Dailies XII. The last type are called Nightly quests which are only available at 7 PM EST each day.[4]
Quests are broken up into sections called 'rooms'. These rooms include Beginner Quests, Intermediate Quests, Advanced Quests, Epic Quests and Boss Quests. Each room has quests hidden within them that have their own unique difficulties for user to take on. When users complete these quests they are awarded experience points (EXP), gpd coins (GP), items or traits for their avatars.[5]
