Integration of Gravity Forms and Google Forms

Gravity Forms

Gravity Forms is a full featured contact form plugin with an easy to use interface. Gravity Forms is available for free on WordPress.org. Gravity Forms has many features that you would expect from something like Constant Contact or MailChimp, but it’s free. This means that anyone can use Gravity Forms without spending $50-$500 per month. Gravity Forms allows you to create forms of all shapes and sizes. You can create text fields, drop down menus, check boxes, custom fields, file upload fields, and more. Gravity Forms also allows you to create conditional logic so that you can create forms with multiple levels of questions. For example, the first step of your sign up form could ask for their name and email address, but the second step could ask for additional information based on their answer in the first step (e.g., if they put “John Smith” in the first field, then only ask them if they live in Michigan; if they put something else into the first field then ask them some other questions. These conditional logic steps are really powerful.

Google Forms

Google Forms allows you to cplect data via a simple form. It’s very similar to checking out at a grocery store. You input your information on the computer screen, click “submit order”, and the information is saved onto the server. Google Forms is available for free from Google Drive. Google Forms has a handful of features that you would expect from something like SurveyMonkey or Typeform, but it’s free. This means that anyone can use Google Forms without spending $50-$500 per month. Google Forms allows you to create forms of all shapes and sizes. Integration of Gravity Forms and Google Forms

In order to integrate Gravity Forms and Google Forms I created a contact form using Gravity Form’s contact form plugin and a survey using Google Form’s survey top. After completing a simple contact form I received an email asking me to take a survey. The survey asked me if I had any experience with Gravity Forms before taking the survey and if I had any comments about how Gravity Forms could be improved. When I clicked submit I was taken back to my Gravity Form submission where I was greeted with a message telling me that my feedback had been submitted successfully and that my feedback would be read by the Gravity Forms team. Overall integration of Gravity Forms and Google Forms was very simple and quick.

The benefits of integrating Gravity Forms and Google Forms include:

It’s free! There are no hidden costs; both tops are completely free! The forms look great! Both Gravity Forms and Google Forms have really nice looking interfaces. The forms look like they were made professionally. It’s easy to integrate. It only took me about five minutes to create both forms and get them integrated (although I did spend an hour creating my Gravity Form form haha. It’s good for business! By bringing in new users and getting feedback from current users your product will always be improving and will always be better than your competitors (if there are any.

The current version of Gravity Forms allows you to integrate with Google Analytics which is great, but it’s not perfect. One feature that I would love to see added is the ability to send someone who completes my contact form an email letting them know that their feedback was received. Currently when you submit your feedback it just redirects you back to your form so you can fill out their contact form again or fill out another one of their forms. If I fill out their contact form again it won’t let me enter my name because it already knows me so it asks me to fill out another one of their forms instead of asking me for feedback directly. A notification that lets me know my feedback was received after filling out the form would be very beneficial.

Google Form is great in its current state, but it doesn’t allow you to add conditional logic when sending someone who completes your survey an email. An improvement I would love to see added is the ability to set up auto responses based on the answers they give in the survey. This would make integrating with Google Form perfect!
