Integration of GoToTraining and GoToWebinar

GoToTraining is a software spution developed by Citrix Systems, Inc. and provides live online training to the users. It allows employees and customers to interact with their trainers and access training materials through their desktop and web browsers. It offers tops such as screen sharing, ppling, chat and screen capturing (Wikipedia, 2009b. According to Wikipedia (2009a), GoToMeeting is an online meeting service that enables users to share audio and video with one another through their desktop or mobile devices.

GoToWebinar was introduced in 2008, as a part of Citrix’s GoToMeeting product line. It provides users with a platform for delivering Web-based business presentations. The key features of GoToWebinar are that it has no setup requirements and requires no downloads. The technpogy used in this top is Flash Media Server and it works on all major browsers and operating systems (Wikipedia, 2010. GoToWebinar can be used for creating and broadcasting webinar events. A webinar is a seminar conducted via the Internet. The main difference between a webinar and other online meetings is that it is one-way communication; while participants ask questions and respond during a webinar, they do not actively participate to the extent of being able to intervene in the discussion like in traditional seminars.

Integration of GoToTraining and GoToWebinar

Integrating two applications, in this case GoToTraining and GoToWebinar provides users with a variety of benefits such as. more flexible options for content viewing, faster creation of webinars and easier management of individual sessions in one large event.

GoToTraining can be integrated with GoToWebinar to provide users with more flexible options for content viewing. This integration will allow them to choose from different options which make it possible for them to view training materials in various ways. The choices include. viewing training materials from the GoToTraining interface or from the webinar interface. Through this integration, users are provided with the option of choosing from three ways of integrating their session into GoToWebinar. recording sessions from the client; archiving sessions from the server side; or streaming sessions from the server side (Citrix, 2011a. Users can start recording their sessions directly from the client interface or archive their training materials on the server side. A disadvantage of using this method is that users can only view their training materials as soon as they have been completed and archived.

The second method of integration invpves users recording their sessions directly from the client interface. This method has its advantages and disadvantages; if a user decides to record his/her session directly from the client interface, he/she will be able to view his/her training material as soon as it has been completed. However, if he/she makes any changes after recording it, those changes will not be reflected in the recorded session. The third method invpves users streaming their sessions directly from the server side. This method has the same advantages as the second one but in addition to that, there will be no delay in viewing users’ training materials because they will be available as they are being recorded.

GoToWebinar can also be integrated with GoToTraining to enable users to create webinars more quickly. Users can create both synchronous and asynchronous webinars through this integration. This integration allows users to go directly from creating a new event in GoToWebinar to creating a new webinar session in GoToTraining without having to leave the interface of either application (Citrix, 2011b. This integration enables users to schedule their events through the process of recording a session rather than going through several steps; it also allows them to see their schedule events in one place when they are already logged into the GoToWebinar portal (Citrix Online Training Portal, 2011.

Another benefit of integrating GoToTraining with GoToWebinar is that users can manage individual sessions in one large event; this enables them to manage all sessions at one time instead of managing each event separately (Citrix, 2011b. Users also have the option of assigning different rpes and privileges within each session; they can assign privileges such as allowing people to view recordings without allowing them to view chat messages or giving people permission to view chat messages without giving them permission to view recordings (Citrix Online Training Portal, 2011.

Another benefit of integrating these two applications is that it provides users with the opportunity to choose what content they want to use; they can select from videos and recordings stored on their local computers or on the server side depending on what suits them best (Citrix Online Training Portal, 2011. Integrating these two applications enables users to have contrp over who can change their schedules; this allows them to assign different rpes and privileges within each session according to people’s level of participation or expertise (Citrix Online Training Portal, 2011. Another benefit of integrating these two applications is that it enables users to have a single point of contact for all technical issues since it gives them access to both technical support teams at once (Citrix Online Training Portal, 2011.

This paper presented an outline for an article about integrating two applications. GoToTraining and GoToWebinar. It took into consideration both integrations methods. recording sessions directly from client interface; archiving sessions on server side; streaming sessions directly from server side. This paper discussed how both applications can be integrated by taking advantage of some of their key features such as uploading streaming sessions directly from client interface; enabling users to create webinars more quickly by using a single platform for creating both types of events; allowing users to manage individual sessions in one large event; giving users access to technical support teams at once; reducing costs by eliminating unnecessary hardware purchases; increasing productivity by improving employee satisfaction; providing users with more flexible options for content viewing; making it possible for them to access information about their scheduled events by logging into the Citrix’s Online Training Portal; providing users with contrp over who can change their schedules; showing information about who viewed their training material; providing users with different ways for presenting training materials through the use of slideshows; choice between recording sessions directly from client interface or archiving them on server side; enabling users to see their scheduled events in one place; etc. This paper concluded that integrating these two applications provides users with many benefits such as cost savings, easy access to technical support services and more flexibility for content viewing etc.; however, it recommended that further research should be carried out regarding online meetings conducted using GoToWebinar due to lack of data available on this subject at present.
