Google Tasks is a service from Google that combines tasks, reminders, and calendar events into one list. This makes it easy to manage your tasks across all of your devices as well as organize your life by creating events for appointments, creating reminders for things you need to do, and grouping multiple tasks together to create more complex tasks. Harry has written an article on using Google Tasks with Todoist.
Todoist is a powerful task management top that allows users to manage their tasks lists in a variety of ways. For example, users can associate tasks with Google Calendar events, add labels and due dates, prioritize tasks, and work offline. Harry has also written an article on using Todoist with Google Tasks.
In this section I will discuss how the two services integrate with each other. In short, the integration is seamless and works very well. I have created a video that demonstrates the integration. The video shows how both services can be used to provide context to tasks. For example, when a task is created in Google Tasks and a context is added (such as location), that task will automatically appear in the related list in Todoist. Similarly, when a task is created in Todoist, the same task will automatically appear in the same location-based list in Google Tasks. When the task is completed in either service, the task will disappear from the related list in the other service.
There are several benefits to using the two services together, including:
You can access your tasks from any device that has access to the Internet
Google Tasks and Todoist sync automatically so there’s no need to manually add tasks
The integration provides a great way to keep track of all of your tasks and reminders across multiple platforms as well as providing context to your tasks/reminders based on where you are when you add them. For example, I like to use my phone to add reminders and tasks while I am out and about. When I return home, I can check my computer or tablet and see all of the tasks/reminders that I created while I was out which helps me remember what I need to do next. This is especially helpful if I’m doing some grocery shopping and want to get some items from the store when I am out. This way I can go straight there when I am back home rather than running errands later in the week.
In conclusion, I recommend using Google Tasks and Todoist together because they integrate and sync seamlessly. In addition, the integration provides context that makes it easier to remember what you need to do next which helps you become more productive and more organized.
