Integration of Google Tasks and Google Groups

Google Tasks

Google Tasks is a free service offered by Google that enables users to create lists of tasks and share them with others. Users can add information to their list, such as task details like due date, project status, etc., as well as notes and files. Users can also attach files to a task or create tasks without any descriptions. Tasks can be organized into categories and assigned a priority. Google Tasks can be accessed via the Google Tasks website, or via an online browser client provided by Google. Google Tasks is a part of the Google Apps services. To use Google Tasks, a user must create a Google Account. Tasks is included in the basic version of Google Apps and is available to all domains hosted on Google Apps. The service was launched in April 2006 as a part of the Gmail Labs feature set, then it was separated from Gmail and made into a separate web application. It is currently considered a Beta version of the product, and has been described as a "stepping stone" for Google's future work towards cplaborative productivity software.

Google Groups

Google Groups is a free email-list management service offered by Google that allows users to create new email groups, and participate in existing ones. Each group has its own dedicated webpage (including an archive. containing posts made to the group, and a discussion forum where members can post messages to the group. Group members can also add attachments to posts and send private messages to other members. The service was launched in February 2001 as one of the initial applications of the newly acquired Deja News archive, which was subsequently integrated into Google Groups. In March 2002, Google Groups became part of the suite of free offerings from the company then known as Google Inc. As part of this offering, Google Groups became available to the public. Groups provides access to Usenet newsgroups via both a traditional interface and via search engine-like keyword searches. Messages are stored on the server until the group's administrators delete them. The archive is retained for a period of time set by the group's creator, but can be deleted earlier at any time by an administrator. With the release of Gmail in 2004, users could choose to move their Usenet posts and messages from pder accounts (such as ones from Deja. into their new Gmail account, but this migration was handled manually, requiring users to visit Deja separately and download their pd posts onto their computer before transferring them to Gmail. In June 2011, Google dropped support for all third-party client and scripting access to Google Groups; only Web access (via the main site. remains available. Due to abuse and growth of spam on Usenet, Google also dropped Usenet access from Google Groups in March 2013. The service was created by Evan Williams who later also co-founded Blogger. It has been developed by an unnamed team ever since then.<br>
