Integration of Google Tasks and awork

Google Tasks

Google Tasks is a part of Google Apps. It enables users to create, edit and manage tasks through Web interface. A user can also view their tasks and task lists in Google Calendar. Google Tasks is available for free.

awork

Awork is an open source web application that allows users to cplaborate on time tracking, invoicing and project management. Aworker runs on PHP and MySQL database. Aworker consists of three main parts – aworker.com, aworker-community.com and aworker-libre.com. aworker.com is the main website that has all the features needed by employers. Community site is a place where developers can post ideas and potential features for discussion or review. Libre site is a list of the most active developers for each project. The latest version of Aworker is 2.0.0.

There are several features that make Aworker stand out from other platforms for time tracking and invoicing:

  • Unbeatable price – Aworker charges $0/month for 5 users and $10/month for 100 users. There are no hidden costs, no annual fees, no transaction fees, no “free” tiers and no credit card required. Users only pay when they use the service. There are no additional charges for invoicing, reporting or any other part of the service.
  • Easy to Add a New Worker – just enter your email address and password and you’re ready to go!
  • No Contract – A user can leave at any time without losing data or being committed to any contract.
  • Google integration – Google Calendar sync makes it easy to see how much time has been spent on different projects while creating new tasks or editing existing ones.
  • Simple Invoicing – With a few clicks you can create an invoice that includes a payment link so that clients can pay directly in one click. It’s easy to change the price based on time spent and add notes as well as include links to files or other documents related to the task
  • Flexible Time Tracking – You can track time based on task name or by client. You can also set up time tracking with quotas (for example, no more than 20 hours per week should be spent on this project. If a quota is reached, the remaining hours will be transferred to another task automatically.
  • All Features Available on Mobile Devices – You can check your tasks and invoice clients from anywhere using Android or iOS apps. Every mobile device supports push notifications so you’ll never miss an important task again! Also, iPhone users can use Siri to create new tasks or calculate tasks’ estimated completion times instantly!

Integration of Google Tasks and awork

Integration between Google Tasks and awork allows users to access Google tasks through awork platform without having to log into Google account separately. Integration provides several benefits:

  • Accessible List of Tasks – Users now have access to their tasks list on a separate tab within Aworker dashboard. The list contains all tasks that have been created in Google and synced with Aworker account. Users can view details about each task (task name, deadline etc.. as well as edit, update or mark them as completed in Aworker’s dashboard easily. This feature is convenient, because users do not need to log into their Google account again in order to manage their tasks. In addition, if multiple people are working on one project, they will have access to all project data at one place (Aworker. They will not need to login into several accounts in order to complete their work efficiently. However, this feature is not available for all users with Google accounts – only those who have enabled “Google Services” in their Google account settings are eligible for this integration.
  • Synchronization – Thanks to integration between Google tasks and Aworker, both platforms are synchronizing data regularly 24/7. This way, users always have up-to-date information about their tasks in one place (Aworker. If they modify a task in one place (Google), it will be automatically updated in another place (Aworker. For example, if a worker wants to enter additional info about the task on Aworker app, the task will be automatically updated in Google when he/she goes back there in order to access their tasks through their browser. This feature is extremely useful for teams who want to avoid double efforts and maintain consistency between different team members (in case one of them wants to modify or update some info about the task. Also, this feature provides flexibility as workers can add comments or notes about the task on Aworker even if they are offline from their computer or laptop at that moment. This way, if somebody needs information about the task while the worker is not available, they would still be able to get it even if they had not accessed it before. One possible disadvantage might be synchronization delay which might take some time depending on network speed. However, we expect that this delay will be minimal due to regular synchronization between both platforms. Currently this feature works only when tasks are created in Gmail not through mobile app or any other browser (like Internet Explorer etc.. While being offline from Gmail, users cannot create new tasks but they can still access their existing ones and manage them through Aworker platform (edit, update etc.. Another limitation of this feature is that it does not provide automatic synchronization for recurring tasks (it only syncs at the date of task creation. Therefore new recurring tasks are not synchronized until the next date of occurrence arrives and sync starts automatically again (this is how it works in Google itself. However, users still have an option to manually sync their recurring tasks by pressing “Sync” button located at the top of “My Tasks” page from Aworker dashboard.
  • Checklist View – with this integration users can access all subtasks included in a given project through checklist view inside Aworker dashboard without having to log into Google separately every time (which was previously done every time users wanted to check their subtasks. This feature is useful since it allows users to view detailed information about each subtask including its description and its status in one place (Aworker. It also allows them to work more efficiently since they do not have to switch between different platforms while completing their tasks. In addition, by using checklist view users can access all subtasks from any project that has enabled Google integration regardless whether they were created before or after the integration was enabled. This means that users do not need to remember what projects have enabled the integration or which ones need it in order to use the checklist view feature effectively – they only need to check “Google Tasks” tab inside their dashboard (inside Aworker), select any project they want and access its checklist. On the other hand, some projects might have enabled integration which means that they will have no checklist view at all but they will still sync all its existing tasks with Google Tasks so that users will have access to them through awork platform as well as through Google Tasks tab inside “My Account” section of their Gmail account respectively. The only disadvantage that could arise from this feature is that once again it could cause synchronization delay between platforms but since synchronization happens regularly 24/7 we expect that it will be minimal. Another possibility is that some subtasks might not be included in checklist view due to technical limitations or some other reasons but we expect that number of such subtasks will be very low and we hope that with each new update of awork platform we will be able to extend this list as well as add more features for better integration with Google Tasks even though our first priority is maintaining synchronization between both platforms without any delays or interruptions at all times thus providing users with convenience and making their work more efficient at the same time! We are working hard to improve this integration so stay tuned for further updates!
