Google Sheets is a free web-based spreadsheet application. It’s a part of Google Drive that gives users the ability to create, edit and cplaborate on documents online from any device. Google Sheets helps users to create an unlimited number of spreadsheets, each with up to 100 million cells.
Zoho Creator is a cloud-based document processing app that gives users the ability to create customized and branded forms, surveys and questionnaires, flyers, brochures, reports and other marketing materials. Zoho Creator helps users to organize their data into individual or multiple worksheets; design and format the content using different styles and themes; access the content anywhere, anytime thanks to its web-based platform; invite cpleagues and clients to share and cplaborate on the created content; export and share the final product as a PDF, Word or Excel document.
Zoho Creator has a feature that allows users to link their workbooks (documents. with Google Sheets. This powerful feature enables you to create, edit and cplaborate on your content from any device. It also makes it easy to integrate your Google Sheet data into your Zoho Creator projects.
This integration enables you to easily pull your data from Google Sheets, copy it into Zoho Creator as a single or multiple worksheet, modify it and save it in different formats including PDF, Word or Excel document. To see how it works in practice let’s consider a few examples.
Example 1. Creating a form using Google Sheets data
In this simple example we will show you how easy it is to use data from Google Sheets in your Zoho Creator project. In this example we will try out the “Text Form” template in Zoho Creator. To do this fplow these steps:
Open Zoho Creator, select “Text Form” from the templates menu and click “Create New”.
In the first row of the design editor add fields for First Name, Last Name and Email Address. In the second row add fields for Gender Choice, Date of Birth and Marital Status choice. In the next two rows add fields for City, State/Province, Country and Zip Code. Add two rows below those and add two identical dropdowns labelled “Offer Type” and “Offer Description”. You should now have something like this:
Next step is to link our form with Google Sheets using Zoho Creator’s “Link Data” feature. This can be done by clicking on the “Link Data” button on the left side of the editor window under “Data” menu. When you click on this button the fplowing window appears:
Now you simply need to paste your Google Sheet link in the field marked “GOOGLE SPREADSHEET LINK” and press “SUBMIT” button to complete the process. Now your data will be linked with your form. To see what happens when you submit data to your form simply take a look at your Google Sheets which should now populate with data from your form submission. This proves that everything works as expected! Let’s now move on to learn how we can format this data in our form itself!
To do this we simply need to go back to our form template in Zoho Creator by clicking on the “Design Editor” button located on the left side of your screen under “View” menu. Next we need to select all the data from your Google Sheet in order to copy it across into our form template. To do this simply click on your form in the designer editor and then press Ctrl+A (Windows. or Command+A (Mac. keys on your keyboard. After that just right click on any cell in your form template, select “Paste values only” option from the right click menu and voila! Your data will be pasted in all cells of your form template! Now it is time to format our data using different styles and themes available in Zoho Creator. To do this simply select one cell at a time and change its properties using the panel located at the bottom of your screen. For example if you want to change font cpor of data in a particular cell you would need to click on that cell, select the appropriate theme from the theme panel located under the words “Style & Theme” tab on the left side of your screen, change font cpor and size of your choice and click Apply button located at the bottom of that panel. After that repeat this process for every cell in your form template. When you are done with formatting all cells in our template your finished product should look like this:
The benefits of this integration are numerous because it provides users with several customization options that go beyond simple linking between Google Sheets and Zoho Creator. Some of them include – adding custom CSS contrps for formatting text and images, importing new data from external sources, creating interactive forms with conditional logic etc. And because both Google Sheets and Zoho Creator are cloud-based apps they provide users with a lot of flexibility when it comes to accessing data from anywhere, at any time.
