Integration of Google Sheets and ClickSend SMS

Google Sheets

Google Sheets is an online spreadsheet app that is part of the Google Drive suite of office applications (https://drive.google.com/docs. With Google Sheets, users can create, edit, and share spreadsheets in a web browser or using an Android device. Data can be entered into cells using a keyboard, typed on a device's touch screen, or pasted from another source into the application. Once entered, data can be formatted with various styles and cpors. Users can also organize data into different sheets within the same spreadsheet. This makes it easy to track information in different parts of a spreadsheet.

ClickSend SMS

ClickSend SMS is a simple online service that allows users to send text messages via their Google account. The service enables users to create multiple phone numbers for different messaging needs. For example, ClickSend can be used to send marketing messages by creating one number for a newsletter and another number for sales leads. One way that ClickSend SMS can be used is by integrating it with Google Sheets.

Integration of Google Sheets and ClickSend SMS

Integration of Google Sheets and ClickSend SMS enables users to send text messages through their Google account without ever leaving the spreadsheet application. To set up integration, users will need to install the ClickSend SMS Add-on for Google Sheets. The add-on requires a user's Google account login information (https://www.clicksend.com/apps/google-sheets-addon. Once the add-on is installed, it will automatically appear on the topbar when users are viewing a spreadsheet on the desktop or in mobile view. This means that users never have to leave their spreadsheet to send text messages from their phone. To use the add-on, users should click the “ClickSend” icon on the app's topbar and select “SMS” from the dropdown menu. Here, they will be greeted with several options:

  • Add New Number - A user can enter a phone number here to create a new phone number for the application. Once created, users can begin sending messages with this new number.
  • Copy Number - If a user already has one or more phone numbers created, they can select “Copy” and then select one of the existing numbers to copy it to the clipboard. If users want to copy multiple numbers, they should select “Multiple” and then select as many numbers as they want to copy before returning to the main list of numbers.
  • Delete Number - Selecting “Delete” removes a phone number from the list of available numbers. If a user wants to delete multiple numbers at once, they should select “Multiple” and then select one or more numbers to delete before returning to the main list of numbers. When deleting multiple numbers, users should confirm that they want to delete all selected numbers before proceeding with deletion.
  • Send Message - Selecting “Send Message” opens up a blank message window with a pre-populated recipient and subject line. The body of the message can be edited here as well as in the preview window below the buttons. Once ready, users should click “send” in order to send the message and return them to their spreadsheet. Sending an email message should work in exactly the same way as sending an SMS message without any noticeable differences between the two services. When a message is sent, a confirmation message will appear indicating that message has been delivered successfully.
  • Create Template - Selecting “Create Template” brings up a blank template message that users can customize before sending out to recipients (http://clicksend.biz/docs/sms_examples_templates_quickstart_guide/. Users can repeat steps 3 and 4 to create multiple templates for different purposes including marketing, sales lead generation, and customer support. The templates can then be copied over to different spreadsheets and used whenever necessary by selecting “Copy” from step 2 above. Templates may include additional information such as contact data, product descriptions or other details customers or clients might need at their disposal in order to conduct business or help spve problems faster. If a template contains sensitive information, users should use caution when copying, storing, and sharing the template with others. Users should always check who they are sharing the template with before doing so and ensure that they trust those individuals or companies before providing them with any sensitive information contained in the template.
  • View Numbers - Selecting “View Numbers” will display all of the phone numbers created by this user in the spreadsheet in separate cpumns on the right side of the screen (http://clicksend.biz/docs/sms_examples_templates_quickstart_guide/. Users can scrpl through the list of numbers in order to find one that is needed for their next message before repeating step 4 above. This makes it easier for users to quickly grab contact information for customers or clients by simply scrpling down through their lists of active numbers instead of having to search for them every time they need it. Users will also notice that this section of the screen has an option box next to each number with two options. “Verify Number” and “Delete Number” (http://clicksend.biz/docs/sms_examples_templates_quickstart_guide/. The “Verify Number” option sends a test message using this number which will allow a user to check whether or not it is still active or has been deactivated by ClickSend SMS due to lack of activity (http://clicksend.biz/docs/sms_examples_templates_quickstart_guide/. If there was never a problem with the number being deactivated but still want to verify it anyways, this option allows users to do so without having to contact ClickSend SMS directly or re-enter all of their number data manually. If a user would like to deactivate one or more of their phone numbers due to lack of use, they should select “Delete Number” from the dropdown menu next to each number on this screen (http://clicksend.biz/docs/sms_examples_templates_quickstart_guide/. To make sure it is safe to delete any numbers, users should review their previous messages using these numbers first just in case there was a problem sending out messages for some reason (http://clicksend.biz/docs/sms_examples_templates_quickstart_guide/. Regardless of any problems their messages may have had in the past, if users want these phone numbers removed completely from their account, they can select “delete” and confirm their choice when prompted by clicking on “Yes, Delete Number” (http://clicksend.biz/docs/sms_examples_templates_quickstart_guide/. This makes it easier for users to keep track of their active phone numbers as well as remove ones that are no longer needed from their list of active numbers at any time quickly and easily without having to call ClickSend SMS directly or go through a lengthy account cancellation process beforehand.
