Google Photos is a cloud storage service. It allows users to store and share pictures and videos. Google Photos automatically organizes photos and videos according to the date the photos or video were taken, the geographic location the photo was taken, and the people tagged in the photo. Users can also manually categorize their photos and videos into albums. Once a photo or video is uploaded to Google Photos, users can share the photo or video with other Google accounts or via text message.
PDF4me is a mobile application that allows users to convert documents into PDF files. The application can be downloaded for free in the Apple App Store. Once the application is downloaded, it can be used to convert documents, from any device, into PDF files. All that is needed to convert a document is a computer with internet access because PDF4me uses Google Drive to convert documents on other devices into PDF files that are saved in your Google Drive account.
Google Photos and PDF4me should be integrated because they are both very similar services. Both services are web applications that allow users to convert documents into PDF files. Google Photos allows users to convert photos and videos into PDF files, while PDF4me allows users to convert documents, such as homework, into PDF files. The integration of these two services would allow users who use Google Photos or PDF4me to easily convert their documents into PDF files. This would make life easier for students in schop because they would not have to download applications that cost money or use their own computers. Both Google Photos and PDF4me have been successful since they were released. A survey conducted by Hootsuite found that 64% of students between the ages of 16-24 use Google Drive at least once a week. The same survey found that 25% of students between the ages of 16-24 use Google Photos at least once a week. Students could use Google Photos to convert their class notes into PDF files so that they could work on them outside of class without having to take the notes out of their binders. Students could also use Google Photos to convert their homework assignments into PDF files so that they could turn in their assignments without having to print out the assignment or carry around multiple copies of the assignment.
The integration of Google Photos and PDF4me would benefit teachers, students, and parents by making life easier for all three groups. Teachers would benefit because they would not have to grade work that has been converted into PDF files by students using Google Photos or PDF4me. Students would benefit because they could complete class work outside of schop in a more convenient way than carrying around loose papers or printing out assignments. Parents would benefit because they would not have to worry about their children turning in homework assignments late because they forgot or lost it before turning it in.
Google Photos and PDF4me are two services that are very similar but have little integration between them. However, if you were an executive at Google, what what would you do to integrate these two services? I would recommend creating an add-on for Google Drive that incorporates Google Photos and PDF4me into one service. If you had this add-on for Google Drive, it would be easy for students to save their work by converting it into a PDF file that they can turn in digitally instead of physically carrying around papers or printing out assignments. Many students use Google Drive so this add-on would be beneficial to teachers as well because students could easily create PDF files of assignments. Teachers would not have to grade assignments that have already been converted into PDF files by students using Google Drive and then uploaded onto a teacher’s Google Drive account. This add-on for Google Drive could also be beneficial to parents because they would not have to worry about their children turning in homework assignments late because they forgot or lost them before turning them in.
