Integration of Google Photos and LinkedIn

Google Photos

Google photos is an online photo-sharing service developed by Google. The service allows users to upload, store, manage, edit and share their photos and videos. All uploaded photos are automatically resized and compressed using Google’s servers.

LinkedIn

LinkedIn is a social network focused on jobs and careers that is owned by Microsoft since 2016. It enables users to connect and communicate with each other. The company has offices in countries all around the world, including the United States, China, India, Japan, Germany, Brazil and the United Kingdom. In March 2018, it had around 527 million users in approximately 200 countries.

Integration of Google Photos and LinkedIn

Google Photos and LinkedIn could be integrated for many reasons, such as:

  • They could be connected through the professional network of LinkedIn. If a user takes a picture of a person he or she meets at a conference or meeting for example, that picture can be uploaded to that person’s LinkedIn profile. That way, the user could get to know the person better and maybe even gain a new business partner or client.
  • A user could upload pictures with his or her cpleagues on Google Photos and then connect those pictures with the cpleagues’ profiles on LinkedIn. Later, if one of the cpleagues leaves the company, the user could remove that cpleague from the shared album on Google Photos. This way, only employees who have stayed with the company will have access to those pictures. Additionally, this way there would be no need to pay for storage, since all pictures would be stored in one place. On the other hand, if one of the cpleagues stays with the company, that cpleague would still be able to view all pictures taken during working hours.
  • Users could also share their Google Photos albums with their LinkedIn contacts or vice versa. This way both users would get to know each other better and eventually become friends or business partners.
  • Users could also view their LinkedIn profile on Google Photos to transform it into a cover page for their profile. In this case, users wouldn’t need to visit LinkedIn to see their profile picture anymore, but they could simply do that from Google Photos. Also, it would be easier for them to see their connections and how many people like them on LinkedIn.
  • Users would be able to view all upcoming events on their calendars in both Google Photos and LinkedIn. This way they could see when they have time to attend any event they want to go to. On top of that, they could easily organize their schedule by adding events on their calendar in Google Calendar and make sure they don’t forget about anything important.
  • Users would be able to search for job offers on Google Photos and then send their resume directly from the application to a company they are interested in working for.
  • Users would be able to upload pictures of their vacation and get recommendations on where they should go next based on where they have already travelled before.
  • Users could also use Google Photos as an image editor for their LinkedIn profile picture or cover page picture.
  • If a user takes a picture of something he or she likes at LinkedIn (for example an event. he or she could upload that picture to Google Photos with a caption ‘Looking forward to this!’ so that more people would also vote for that event on LinkedIn. Since more people vote for something, it becomes more popular and finally more people attend it due to its popularity.
  • Users could also get recommendations on which pictures they should post on their LinkedIn profile based on what others have posted in similar situations or what others have been viewing on Google Photos most often.
  • If a user searches for someone’s name in Google Photos, he or she will be able to see all pictures of that person’s contacts in his/her phone contacts list on his/her computer screen as well as all images of other people who are linked to that person’s contact on LinkedIn or other social media sites.
  • It would also be convenient for “last year” pd schopmates who now work for different companies because they will easily be able to find each other through Google Photos and benefit from further cooperation.
  • When attending a trade show or job fair, users could take pictures of products they like best and upload them directly to their company website with some kind of caption under each picture telling why they like them so much and how good they look in real life rather than just having a blurry picture that was taken from far away without being able to tell much about the product itself (which is actually quite common. On top of that, they could easily add more information about the product such as its price or where it can be purchased from by simply linking that information to the company website from their profile on LinkedIn or from wherever else they are uploading their photos from.
  • Users would be able to get recommendations from friends and family members on which places are worth visiting based on where other people have visited before. For example if one of my friends recommends me somewhere I might not have thought about going before but now after I see what kind of reviews he or she gave it I might actually go there if I like it because I trust my friend and I know he or she didn’t recommend me somewhere just randomly without thinking about it first. Basically these recommendations create new experiences based on other peoples experiences which makes doing things more fun because you get some kind of assurance that you won’t regret it if you go there instead of trying something new out of curiosity but later regretting it after you tried it out because it wasn’t really worth it at all…
