    Google Photos is a free service developed by Google that allows users to store, organize, share, and edit photos. Google Photos scans through the users’ camera rpls to recognize faces, subjects, and landmarks. It then categorizes the photos based on these attributes. It has a face grouping feature that automatically labels all photos containing specific faces. Likewise, it has a subject grouping feature that labels all photos containing specific subjects. Finally, it has a landmark grouping feature that labels all photos containing landmarks. After categorizing the photos, it can also generate automatic photo albums based on these units. For example, if the user tags an image of an apartment building as a landmark, Google Photos will detect this and will group all the images of the same building into an album called “Landmarks” on the phone. It then creates multiple sub-albums on the Google Photos app based on the different faces in the photograph. These sub-albums can be accessed through the “Faces” tab. Moreover, it automatically creates a “Selfies” album for all images containing selfies. It also creates an album for any other images that are not already grouped into an album. All of these features make storing and organizing photos much easier and faster than using an ordinary camera app or a non-Google platform like Apple iCloud or Microsoft OneDrive. The project was first announced at the 2016 Google I/O developer conference and released to the public on May 28, 2016. The application is available for Android and iOS devices. There is also a desktop version available through their webpage that allows users to upload their photos from their desktop computers. Additionally, there is a standalone web app that allows users to view and manage all of their photos from any computer or mobile device with internet connection. These features make Google Photos very convenient and easy to use compared to traditional cameras and storage sputions such as Microsoft OneDrive and Apple iCloud. Furthermore, the application is completely free and does not require any additional payment after downloading it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. This adds to its convenience because users do not have to pay monthly subscription fees like they would do for Apple iCloud or Microsoft OneDrive. Also, there are no hidden costs associated with this program unlike Amazon Cloud Drive which charges extra for uploading videos over a certain size limit. Likewise, Amazon Cloud Drive provides only 5GB of free storage whereas Amazon Prime subscribers receive unlimited storage from Amazon Photos. Amazon Prime requires a yearly subscription fee of $99 while Amazon Photos is free without any additional costs after downloading it from the Google Play Store or Apple App Store. Amazon Prime only provides a small amount of free storage compared to Amazon Photos which provides unlimited storage for any file type including videos and high-respution images. Amazon Prime does not provide video streaming services like Amazon Video while Amazon Photos provides video streaming service through YouTube videos as well as its own applications on both Android and iOS devices. In addition, Amazon Prime does not provide any music streaming services like Amazon Music while Amazon Music provides over two million songs to stream from from their website as well as from their mobile apps. Amazon Prime does not have a background process that backs up all the files stored on the device to Amazon servers so users have to manually back up their files every time they update a file on their devices or whenever they want to save a file permanently on Amazon servers. Amazon Photos automatically backs up all photos uploaded from a device so that users can easily access them whenever they need them without having to worry about losing any files due to accidental deletion. Finally, Amazon Prime does not offer any cloud storage spution for digital files like Adobe Photoshop or Microsoft Word documents while Google Photos provides cloud storage sputions for these types of files in addition to photos and videos through Google Drive. Overall, there are many advantages to using Google Photos rather than physical cameras or non-Google platforms like Apple iCloud or Microsoft OneDrive.
