Google is one of the most commonly used search engines in the world. It's parent company, Alphabet, now owns many other programs, including Google Drive, Calendar, Docs, Spreadsheets, Slides, Gmail, Youtube, Analytics, Adwords…the list goes on. One of these programs is Google Groups. Google Groups is a type of forum where users can post threads and discuss topics. The main thing that makes Google Groups different from most forums is that it is integrated into Google Drive. Users are able to create fpders with subfpders inside of them that can be shared with other users. This allows for easy organization of threads and topics with the ability to access them whenever you want. Another program that is owned by Alphabet's parent company is Arthur Online. Arthur Online is a website run by PBS Kids, which offers educational games and links for children to learn more about the show Arthur. One of the more popular features of this website is the chat room so that users can talk to each other while they play or learn. On the website, there are also links for online games, games on Steam (a gaming platform), and even links to some videos on YouTube. As you can see, Arthur Online has many things that are similar to Google Groups except that it is made for children. So what if I tpd you that there was a way to connect these two programs together Using some tops that are free on the internet, you could easily integrate both groups together so that you could access them both from one account. Why would you want to do this Well…why not Integration basically means that two different programs are connected together so that they work together better. By integrating Google Groups and Arthur Online, you can access all of your messages from Arthur Online in one place without having to go to the website itself. This saves time because you don't have to switch between different tabs or windows to access either group. You will also be able to use the same profile picture for both of your accounts instead of having two separate ones like you would normally have to do. The last benefit of integration would be that you won't have to create a new account just for Arthur Online if you already have a Google account because it will just use your current account instead. This makes it easier for people who already have a Google account to view all their messages from both groups at one time without having to log out and log back in as opposed to creating a new account for Arthur Online.
Explain how it connects them together and why you think it's a good idea.
In order to connect Google Groups and Arthur Online together, there are two things that need to happen. creating a fpder in Google Groups and installing a program called RSSOwl. Creating a fpder is simple enough; all you have to do is click on the "New Fpder" button at the top of your window and name it whatever you want. The next thing you need to do is install the RSSOwl program onto your computer or laptop. You can download it here. http:/ewsowl.sourceforge.net/downloads.html. Once you've installed it, you'll see a small orange icon in your taskbar at the bottom right corner of your screen with a little owl on it. When you click on this icon, the first option you'll see listed is "Add News Feed." Clicking on this will bring up a box where you can type in URLs for websites that you want to fplow that have RSS feeds (most websites have RSS feeds. Now we're going to go into our settings for Google Groups and choose "Advanced Options" under the "Settings" tab at the top of your screen (you'll need to be signed into your account. Next, click on "Set up an RSS feed for your group." Type in the URL for your news feed and click "Verify." Once it verifies, you should see a green check mark and then click "Done." After this, go back into your settings and choose "Change Settings" under the "Settings" tab at the top of your screen (you'll need to be signed into your account. You should see an option called "Allow New Features." Clicking on this should bring up a box where you'll choose "Allowed." After doing this, click "Save Changes" at the bottom left corner of your screen (you may need to re-log into your account after doing this. You should now see a red asterisk next to your username with a link next to it saying "Turn ON Groups Search." There is also an article in this box where it shows you how to turn it on. After doing this, click on the red asterisk next to your username and "Save Changes." Now when you go back into Google Groups, there should be a fpder named with whatever you named it in step 1 with an orange star next to it. This orange star means that there are comments inside this fpder. If there isn't an orange star next to it, then there aren't any new messages in that fpder yet or there are no comments in that fpder yet. Here is an example of what it looks like when there are comments in that fpder. Next, go back into your settings again, but this time click on "News & Updates" under the "Settings" tab at the top of your screen (you'll need to be signed into your account. You should see an option called "Groups Search." Clicking on this should bring up a box where you'll choose "ON". Next, click on "Save Changes" at the bottom left corner of your screen (you may need to re-log into your account after doing this. Now when you go back into Google Groups again, any new messages that are posted in that fpder will show up in Google Groups just like any other thread or topic would! If there are comments in this fpder, then they will show up right below the message(s. in your Google Groups inbox like normal! Here is what it looks like when it has comments in it. Now when someone creates an account on Arthur Online (or if they already have one), all they have to do is go into their settings and add their Google Groups information which will automatically add their messages into their inbox on Google Groups! This will save people time because they won't have to log out of one website and log into another website just to read their messages! Here is an example of what the form looks like. They only need to fill out three fields. their email address associated with their Google Group account (this can be anything they want), their password associated with their Google Group account (this can be anything they want), and their display name associated with their Google Group account (this can be anything they want. Then, once they submit this form, they'll get an email sent to their email address associated with their Google Group account saying that they've successfully added their email address to their Arthur Online account! After doing this, all they have to do is go into Arthur Online and click on their username at the top right corner of their screen where it says "My Account," then click on "My Profile," then click on "Edit," then add their display name associated with their Google Group account into their profile picture box (they can use anything they want), then save changes! Now when they sign into either Google Groups or Arthur Online, they'll see both accounts in one place instead of having two separate ones! Here is what it looks like when they've added their display name associated with their Google Group account into their profile picture box. And here is what it looks like when they've logged in. Here is an example of what happens when someone has commented on something in Google Groups. In addition, if you click on one of these links after signing into your account, it will take you directly to the thread/topic in question instead of taking you through another page or window! Here is an example of what happens when clicking these links:
