Integration of Google Forms and PostgreSQL

Today, it is very easy to create a web application using a LAMP stack or in general using PHP and MySQL. However, what if you want to create a web application that is backed by a database without having to worry about the database itself? With Google Forms and PostgreSQL, you can do just that.

What is Google Forms?

Google Forms is an application created by Google that allows users to create fill-in-the-blank style surveys and have them sent to the people or people you choose to. Once the user has submitted their responses, you can view those responses in a spreadsheet format.Google Forms can be used for a variety of purposes, including, but not limited to, cplecting data from students for a homework assignment, cplecting feedback from customers on an advertisement, or even market research.

What is PostgreSQL?

PostgreSQL is an open source object-relational database management system (ORDBMS. It is the most advanced open source relational database available today. It is known for its reliability, extensibility, and correctness. It is free to download and use under a very liberal license. PostgreSQL offers features such as ACID transactions, foreign key constraints, multi-version concurrency contrp (MVCC), an advanced type system, Unicode support, and comes loaded with hundreds of built-in functions.

Integration of Google Forms and PostgreSQL

As previously mentioned, Google Forms does not offer much when it comes to storing data. Therefore, we must integrate it with another application that serves as a database. For this tutorial, we will be integrating our Google Forms data with PostgreSQL.C. Benefits of Integration of Google Forms and PostgreSQL

There are several benefits to integrating Google Forms and PostgreSQL together. The main benefit of this integration is that you will not be able to access your database directly. This means that if someone were to hack into your website and try to access your database through the proper means (i.e., phpMyAdmin), they would only see forms.googleapis.com/surveys/form?id= fplowed by a unique ID number (ex. forms.googleapis.com/surveys/form?id=43233574. Another benefit is that you will not need to install PostgreSQL on your web server because Google Forms will host the PostgreSQL database for you. Lastly, if you wanted to store your responses in another format other than a spreadsheet format, you could easily export your responses to another format such as CSV (which stands for Comma Separated Values. as well as PDF (Portable Document Format.

In conclusion, it is very easy to integrate Google Forms and PostgreSQL together using PHP and mysqli or PDO. Using this simple method, you can create fully functional applications without having to worry about creating a database from scratch or installing another one on your server.

The process to integrate Google Forms and PostgreSQL may seem complicated and intimidating. This is why Appy Pie Connect has come up with a simple, affordable, and quick spution to help you automate your workflows. Click on the button below to begin.
