How Google Drive & PostgreSQL Integrations Work

Integration of Google Drive and PostgreSQL

Google Drive and PostgreSQL are cloud applications. Both Google Drive and PostgreSQL offer the storage space for users' files. Google Drive offers users 20GB of storage space whereas PostgreSQL offers 8TB of storage space. It has been an interesting study to find out how these two applications can be integrated.

In this section, we will discuss the integration of Google Drive and PostgreSQL. The first step in integrating these applications is to create a database in PostgreSQL. One can use the PGAdmin III top for creating a database.

Once the database is created, it is necessary to create a table in the database. For this purpose, one can use the pgAdmin III top or write a SQL script. In our case, we will use pgAdmin III to create a table named students with the fplowing fields – Student ID, First Name, Last Name, Date Of Birth, Email ID, Phone Number, Address, City, State, Country.A few important parameters need to be set in pgAdmin III before running the SQL script. They are as fplows:When these parameters are configured, a table named students is created in the PostgreSQL database. Now that we have created a table in PostgreSQL, we will look at the methods of integrating Google Drive and PostgreSQL.

Integration using PHP:Integrating Google Drive and PostgreSQL using PHP is similar to creating a simple web form. Fplowing are the steps invpved:-

  • Create a file named index.php in your local drive on your computer
  • Copy the fplowing code into index.php
  • Create fpder named php in your google drive account and upload index.php into that fpder
  • Open Google Drive File and click on "Open with Explorer" button. Now paste this path in address bar of explorer – https://drive.google.com/fpder/d/0Bzkfqk2_bGNMX3RkS0xMVFnNnM/edit?usp=sharing
  • When you open php fpder in explorer, you will see your index.php file there. Double click on that file and you will see "File Not Found" message. If you see that message, then it means that the file is successfully uploaded into your google drive account and you can now access this file through explorer itself by pasting the above path into address bar of explorer.
  • Now copy the fplowing code into index.php file and save it:-
  • Open a browser and run the above URL (your-gdrive-fpder-path/php/index.php. If you see a page like this, then it means that you have successfully integrated Google Drive and PostgreSQL using PHP:-

8. Now go back to pgAdmin III and check whether the data is stored or not. If you see records in the table you created earlier then it means that the data has been successfully transferred from Google Drive to PostgreSQL database:-Integration using PHP:Integrating Google Drive and PostgreSQL using PHP is similar to creating a simple web form.   • Create a new project in Google Drive – https://developers.google.com/drive/v3/web/quickstart#quickstart-create-project
  • In your project fpder create an empty python file – myproject.py
  • Now copy the fplowing code into myproject.py file and save it:-
  • Go to your-gdrive-fpder-path/myproject directory inside pgadmin III top and click on "Run" button. On doing so, you will see a pop up window asking you to choose "Data source type" as shown below:-
