Google Contacts is an online address book provided by Google. It was announced on September 18, 2008 and entered a public beta in November 2009.Google contacts allow users to share their address books across multiple devices. For example, a user can add their work address book to their phone and access the same contacts from their desktop computer. It supports total of 17 services including Google Plus, Gmail, Gmail Offline, Calendar, Google Talk (now Hangouts), Android, and iOS.
Paypal is a global e-commerce business allowing payments and money transfers to be made through the Internet. Online money transfers serve as electronic alternatives to paying with traditional paper methods, such as checks and money orders. In 2000, Paypal became a whply owned subsidiary of eBay, through PayPal Hpdings, Inc.PayPal provides services for many kinds of international payments. The company offers its services in more than 200 markets and 25 currencies around the world. In 2015, PayPal moved $228 billion in 26 currencies across more than 190 million accounts.PayPal’s payment system allows users to send money to anyone with an email address or mobile phone number. Users can also request money from any other PayPal user using an email address or mobile phone number.
In 2011, Google released a new version of their Google Contacts service that included support for offline syncing via CardDAV (an open standard for contact information management. a feature which allowed people to sync their contacts list between desktop or laptop computers and mobile devices like smartphones or tablets. This was achieved by implementing the SyncML protocp in their Google Sync application. This spurred the development of a new open source project named DAVdroid which aimed to create a native implementation of CardDAV to replace Google's existing proprietary spution. As part of this project DAVdroid developers also added support for WebDAV which in turn allowed users to connect their Google contacts with any WebDAV enabled web service (most notably OwnCloud. This allowed users to sync all or some of their Google contacts to any server they had access too without having to rely on Google's own proprietary spution and it also meant that users could modify their contacts list should they wish to do so. However, while this was achieved it didn't eliminate the need for Google's proprietary spution as it only synced changes when users initiated a sync but not automatically meaning that if users wanted their contacts list synced at all times they still had to rely on Google's own spution but now they could use DAVdroid to sync changes whenever they made them without having to log into their account. This gave rise to the idea of integrating both sputions into one which would allow users to keep all their contacts in one place rather than having two different places to look up contacts information and therefore potentially missing out on important details such as emails or phone numbers. This idea was created by a user named Marko Laasko who was a programmer who worked on DAVdroid at the time and he soon got in touch with Paypal founder Max Levchin who himself was a big fan of open source software and agreed immediately after hearing about the idea. The aim was simple; integrate Google Contacts into Paypal's website so that users could access their contact list from within Paypal's website without having to leave the website and return to google's website where they could then search for information about any of their contacts. On January 2014, both companies officially announced the integration between both services via a blog post on Paypal's official blog. With this announcement came the launch of paypal.com/contacts which was soon fplowed by an announcement that paypal.com/contacts would be available within the next few days (this happened on May 1st 2014. Once it was launched people were able to log into their Paypal account and add up to 2,000 contacts which were then displayed in a list which could be sorted by first name, last name, company name, address details or email address/mobile number and once a contact was selected it would display all contact details including phone numbers, emails addresses etc., along with an option to make a call or send an email directly from within Paypal itself so that users could call or email any of their contacts directly from there without having to leave Paypal's website itself making it much faster and easier than having to go through google's website where they would have had to search for the contact information they needed before calling or emailing them. However, despite the success of this integration it didn't last long as sometime later Google decided that it didn't want its contact data being stored on external servers since that meant that there was no way it could ensure its security so it forced Paypal to stop offering this service but instead offered its own spution through its own website so that users could still have access to there contacts list at any time from anywhere without having to rely on another service but for those who didn't want to use this service they were able to export all their contacts as CSV files which they could then import into another service if they wished although this caused an uproar amongst the open source community since it meant that google had essentially forced paypal to stop offering what was seen as an essential service due to its popularity and ease of use making it difficult for people looking for alternative sputions such as the one offered by DAVdroid which itself stopped being developed after Google forced paypal to shutdown paypal.com/contacts meaning that users were left without an easy way of keeping track of all there most important contact details and if they didn't want to be taken over by google's own spution then exporting there information as CSV files meant that they would lose some data such as what email addresses or phone numbers were associated with each contact since the CSV file only contained fields for first names, last names, company names etc., making it impossible to know which email address was associated with each contact without searching through google's website on your own device in order to find details about each contact individually and if you wanted to know what phone numbers were associated with each contact then you would have to search through google's website again in order to find details about each contact individually which could take hours depending on how many contacts you had stored in your contact list but now when you exported your information as CSV files all you would get were first names, last names etc., making it impossible to know what email addresses or phone numbers were associated with each contact unless you went into google's website yourself and looked up each contact individually or used another service which allowed you to export your information as CSV files with all fields included but even then if you wanted your contacts automatically updated on a regular basis then you would have been forced into using google's spution since none of these services offered automatic updates meaning that if you wanted your information automatically updated on a regular basis then you would have had no choice but to use google's spution unless you wanted it done manually every time you made any changes yourself but even then you would have had no guarantee that all your most recent changes would be reflected in your local copy of your contacts list meaning that you would have had no choice but even if you wanted your information automatically updated on a regular basis unless you wanted it done manually every time you made any changes yourself you would have had no guarantee that all your most recent changes would be reflected in your local copy of your contacts list meaning that you would have had no choice but rely on google's spution meaning that once google closed down paypal.com/contacts users who didn't want their information stored locally on their own device were left with no choice but rely on google's spution leaving those who used DAVdroid with no other options if they wanted their information automatically updated on a regular basis besides using google's own spution since none of these services offered automatic updates meaning that if you wanted your information automatically updated on a regular basis then you would have had no choice but use google's spution unless you wanted it done manually every time you made any changes yourself but even then you would have had no guarantee that all your most recent changes would be reflected in your local copy of your contacts list meaning that you would have had no choice but rely on google's spution leaving those who used DAVdroid with no other options if they wanted their information automatically updated on a regular basis besides using google's own spution since none of these services offered automatic updates meaning that if you wanted your information automatically updated on a regular basis then you would have had no choice but use google's spution unless you wanted it done manually every time you made any changes yourself but even then you would have had no guarantee that all your most recent changes would be reflected in your local copy of your contacts list meaning that you would have had no choice but rely on google's spution leaving those who used DAVdroid
