Google Contacts is an integrated application that allows you to keep your contacts, phone numbers, e-mail addresses, birthdays, and other related information in one place. You can sync the information with your Google Account and access it from your Gmail, Google+, and Android devices. You can also search for contacts using different attributes such as name or phone number.
MonkeyLearn is a machine learning platform that helps users to analyze their data by providing different algorithms and pre-built components. MonkeyLearn has a wide variety of features such as classification, clustering, sentiment analysis, topic extraction, and many others.
In this example, I will show you how to transform your Google Contacts into a dataset for machine learning, using MonkeyLearn. This process is quite simple. Once you have created a dataset, all you need to do is train it using the available algorithms on MonkeyLearn. It will use the existing data to create a model that can be used later to classify new data. Let’s take a look at how to do it step-by-step.
Step 1. Create a Dataset in MonkeyLearn
First of all, you need to create a dataset using “Google Contacts” as the source. To do that:
Go to “Datasets” on your MonkeyLearn dashboard. Click on “Add New Dataset”.
On the new screen, choose “Google Contacts” as the provider. Select the contacts you want to use as the source of data. For our example, we are going to select one contact as our source of data. If you want to use multiple sources, feel free to do so. Select the attributes you want to use as input features and output label. We will be using only the name attribute as the input feature and “Gender” as the output label because we want to predict whether this person is male or female. Click on “Create Dataset” to finalize the creation of your dataset!
Step 2. Train Your Model
Now that you have created your dataset, you’re ready to train your model. This process is really simple; just click on “Train Model” and you will be able to use all of the algorithms available on MonkeyLearn. You can also try different configurations of each algorithm before selecting one. In this example, I am going to use “K-Nearest Neighbors”. After finishing training I will obtain my model which will be able to classify new data! Now let’s see how it works in practice!
After training, you will see the fplowing results:
