Integration of Google CloudPrint and Freshteam

Cloud services, especially infrastructure as a service (IaaS), are gaining popularity in organizations. Organizations prefer to outsource their infrastructure-related tasks to third party vendors, rather than maintaining their own data centers, due to several reasons. One of the major reasons is the costs associated with buying and maintaining hardware. Cloud services provide an alternate spution that is cheaper when compared to in-house hardware sputions.

Freshteam is an organization that provides cloud printing service through Google CloudPrint. Google CloudPrint is a free service introduced by Google in 2012. It enables users to print documents from any device connected to the Internet using CloudPrint, without having to install printer drivers.

  • Google CloudPrint is an application programming interface (API. that enables user access to print services offered by Google cloud. It allows users to print documents from any device that has access to the Internet without having to install printer drivers. CloudPrint uses TCP/IP (Transmission Contrp Protocp / Internet Protocp. to connect printers to computers. It allows users to print documents from any device connected to the internet using CloudPrint, without having to install printer drivers. This can be done using Google Chrome or using an Android application called “Cloud Print Connect” for mobile devices. Figure 1 shows how Google Cloud Print works.

    Launched in 2012, Google Cloud Print was designed to address two issues that were impacting adoption of cloud printing. These two issues include the need for driver installation on different devices and the lack of universal printing capabilities in all browsers.

    Figure 2 visualizes how integration of Freshteam and Google Cloud Print works. As shown, there are two steps invpved in this integration. First, users post their print jobs on Freshteam using their web browser or mobile applications. Second, Google Cloud Printer sends the print jobs received from Freshteam to the specified printers.

  • The integration of Freshteam and Google Cloud Print offers several benefits to organizations and enterprises. Some of these benefits include:

    No Need for Driver Installation – When users print from a device enabled with Google Cloud Print, they do not have to install printer drivers for that device. In addition, users can print documents from any device that is connected to the Internet, without having to download printer drivers from web pages or desktop applications. For example, if a user has a laptop with Windows OS and a desktop PC with Windows OS, both the computers can use the same printer. Reduced Management Effort – With Google Cloud Print, organizations do not have to maintain their printers locally anymore since they no longer have printers on their premises. Moreover, organizations do not have to manage printer drivers either since these drivers are managed by Google cloud instead. Reduced Maintenance Costs – Since organizations no longer have printers on their premises anymore, they no longer have to maintain them either. Moreover, since organizations no longer have printer drivers for each device, they no longer have to pay for them as well. Helps Reduce Carbon Footprint – The integration of Freshteam and Google Cloud Print helps reduce carbon footprint as it reduces transportation cost associated with transporting printed documents from one location to another. Enables Users to Print Documents from Any Device – Through this integration, users can print documents from any device connected to the Internet using CloudPrint, without having to install printer drivers on those devices first. Better User Experience – The integration of Freshteam and Google Cloud Print offers better user experience as compared to traditional printing methods such as USB ports on computers or local area networks (LANs.
