How to Write a Conclusion for a Research Paper Outline
Once you’ve finished writing the body of your paper, it’s time to write the conclusion. Don’t worry if you feel like you haven’t gotten anywhere with your research or don’t know what to say. Your conclusion is where you tie everything together and use the evidence you found to support your thesis.
Here is a sample conclusion:
The conclusion generally repeats the thesis and then discusses the importance of the thesis and its implications for future work. It also generally contains a slight restatement of the problem and background information.
There are two main strategies for writing good conclusions. causal analysis and synthetic discussion. A causal discussion shows how an argument supports a particular point of view by presenting evidence. The evidence is carefully chosen to make a strong case for the position. To create such a conclusion, the writer must consider the strengths and weaknesses of those points of view and choose those with which he or she agrees. A synthetic discussion sums up the different points of view on an issue and presents the writer’s own conclusions on that issue, creating a synthesis of all those points of view. A synthetic discussion is stronger than a causal discussion because it takes into account all possible viewpoints; however, it requires more sources and more reading than a causal discussion. If you want to find out about different types of conclusions, read this post about how to write a conclusion for an article.
