Textline is a cloud-based business messaging platform built specifically for small businesses. The service is designed to help businesses communicate and cplaborate with their customers through the use of SMS text messages. The company was founded in 2013 by former eBay executive Pankaj Gupta and co-founders Jeremy Kornobis and Kevin Lynch. In May 2014, venture capital firm Accel Partners led a $17 million Series C funding round for the company. On September 18, 2015, Textline announced it had closed a $30 million Series D financing round. That's pretty impressive.
The integration can be done through a gateway like Zapier or IFTTT. We will discuss about IFTTT in our upcoming tutorial. However for now let's understand about Zapier, which does the same task as IFTTT. Zapier is an automated workflow top that connects two applications together. In this case, we will configure IFTTT to connect Freshdesk account with Textline account. Once it's done, you can create triggers like "when a new ticket is created in Freshdesk, send an SMS to my mobile."
To get started with Zapier, click on this link and create an account. After creating an account, you need to connect Freshdesk account with Textline account. For this you will require the fplowing details:
Freshdesk URL — https://freshdesk.com/
Textline API Key — Textline API key is used to authenticate your account with Textline. You can get this from Textline dashboard after creating an account on Textline. Click on 'Manage Account' and go to 'Account Settings' page of your account. In 'API Access', there will be a section called 'Generate API Key'. Click on Generate API Key to generate your API key.
Textline Number — It's your mobile number where you want to receive text notifications from Freshdesk. This number should be associated with the Textline account you have just created.
Now, once you have all these details, visit the Zapier website and sign up using your Google account or Facebook account. After signing up and connecting your accounts, create a new Zap (workflow. using the steps mentioned below:
Step 1 . Choose Freshdesk as "This". Step 2 . Then choose Textline as "that". Step 3 . Now select the option "When a new ticket is created in Freshdesk". Step 4 . Now select the option "Send me an SMS". Step 5 . To complete the configuration click on the "Finish" button at the bottom of the page. Your Zap is now ready! Press the "Test It" button to execute your first test and check if everything works correctly or not. If everything goes fine then you’re good to go! For any further changes in your Zap, you can make changes by clicking on "Zap" on the top bar of your dashboard. You can also create additional Zaps for other use-cases related to Freshdesk and Textline. One of them could be sending SMS on ticket's close date or reminder for fplow-up etc. You can name Zaps as per your requirement accordingly. This way you can automate workflows between multiple apps very easily with a few clicks! You can also create multiple Zaps for different use cases related to any app of your choice! Hope you find this tutorial useful! Stay tuned for more such tutorials!
