Freshdesk is an online customer support platform that helps companies to handle customer support related issues through emails, phone calls or live chats. This cloud-based software is widely used by companies from all around the world. Freshdesk has more than 50,000 customers across 180 countries. It offers sputions for everything from customer support to billing and even sales.
Cloud Firestore is a fully managed NoSQL database that helps you store, sync, and query data in realtime. It is powered by Firebase which offers a lot of tops and features required to build high-quality apps. Cloud Firestore can be easily integrated with other firebase services such as Firebase Authentication and Firebase Storage.
With this integration, users can access the Freshdesk data in their Firebase Realtime Database directly from their mobile or web applications. The integration makes it easier to move the data between Freshdesk and Firebase. With this integration, it is easy to add Freshdesk data into your mobile application and also access the data from the Firebase Conspe.
In order to integrate Freshdesk with Cloud Firestore, we need to understand how each platform works individually. Freshdesk provides unlimited email, phone and live chat support for its clients while Cloud Firestore helps you store, sync and query your data in real time. To integrate Freshdesk with Cloud Firestore, you need to create a project in both platforms. Let’s examine how we can do that.
Creating a project in Freshdesk
Step 1. Go to https://www.freshdesk.com/start/cloud-platform/ to create a project. Sign up for an account on Freshdesk if you don’t already have one and click the “Create a new project” button. Give your project a name (ex. MyCloudProject. and select your plan type. Click Get Started button once you are done.
Step 2. The next step will ask you to enter some information about your business such as your Company Name, Company Website, Job Title, Location, Country, Phone Number, etc. Once you are done filling up the details, click Next.
Step 3. Fill out the fields required to connect your Freshdesk account with Firebase Project ID like Project ID, Team Id and Email Id of an Admin user in your Firebase project. Make sure that the email id provided is the same as the primary email address set up in your Freshdesk account. After filling up the required details, click Create Project button at the bottom right corner of the page.
Creating a project in Cloud Firestore
Step 1. Go to https://firebase.google.com/ to sign up for an account if you don’t have one already. The next screen will ask you to select a plan type and create a new Firebase project or import an existing one. Select Import Existing Project option and click Continue button at the bottom right corner of the page.
Step 2. Now either select an existing Google project or create a new one for integrating Freshdesk with Cloud Firestore and then click Continue button again.
Step 3. Once done with selecting your Google project, all you need to do is fill in the form with the details required to connect your Freshdesk account with your Cloud Firestore project just like the way we did on our Freshdesk account creation page above. Once you are done filling in all the fields click Continue button at the bottom right corner of the page.
Step 4. Your account will now be connected with your Freshdesk account so that you can view all of your Freshdesk data on your Cloud Firestore dashboard page by clicking on your newly created project name on the left hand side navigation in your Firebase conspe dashboard page. Clicking on this project name will take you to your Cloud Firestore dashboard page where you can see many different ways to view your data and add different types of records on this page including Lists, Documents and References. Let’s go ahead and create a List in our Cloud Firestore project by clicking on Add Document option on this dashboard page and providing a title for our document (ex. MyFreshDeskDataList. After doing this, we will get a list entry added on our Spark table on Spark Dashboard page which we will discuss later in this blog post. We have successfully connected our Freshdesk account with our Cloud Firestore project now so let’s move on to understanding the Spark table added to our Cloud Firestore project.
Understanding Spark table on Cloud Firestore dashboard page
As we discussed above, we got a new Spark table added after creating a List entry on our Cloud Firestore dashboard page by clicking Add Document option under Documents tab section of our Cloud Firestore dashboard page. Let’s go ahead and explore this Spark table further which will help us understand how we can view our Freshdesk data in our Cloud Firestore project using this Spark table as well as how we can use this Spark table as an intermediary between our Freshdesk account and our Cloud Firestore project so that we can easily move data between both these platforms without any hassle.
Viewing Data on Spark Table. Let’s go ahead and view all of our data stored on this Spark table by clicking on View All option at top right corner of our Spark table which will take us to another page containing all of our records stored inside this Spark table from where we can view all of our records in detail by clicking View option given next to each record displayed on this page below view all option or download CSV file containing all of these records by clicking Download CSV option given at bottom right corner of this page below View All option as shown in the image given below:
Adding New Records on Spark Table. Let’s now go ahead and add some new records to this Spark table by clicking on Add New Record button given below View All option at top right corner of this page as shown in the image given below. This will take us to another page containing fields similar to those present in our Spark table where we can enter new records into these fields in a similar way as we viewed them above by simply changing record values and clicking Save button given at bottom right corner of this page below Add New Record button which will again take us back to View All option taken from previous screen as shown in the image given below. This way we can add new records and view them in full detail from here without any hassle!
