Freshdesk handles customer service email, phone calls and chats, from social media, websites, mobile apps and more. Freshdesk provides live chat, email and phone support for customers by means of an online help desk application. The Freshdesk API gives developers the ability to integrate with third party business applications such as CRM, project management and billing software.
Basecamp is a web-based project management and cplaboration top that has a TODO list, message board, file sharing and time tracking tops. Basecamp is used by small businesses and large organizations including Twitter, Tumblr, Cisco Systems and Airbnb. There are two versions. Basecamp Classic and Basecamp Next. The newest version of Basecamp is called Basecamp Next. It was created after the launch of the second version of Campfire in November 2012. In October 2014, Basecamp announced that they would be releasing a new version of Basecamp in November 2014 called Basecamp 3 which was made available on November 18, 2014.
Integration between Freshdesk and Basecamp 3 is very simple with the help of REST API developed in both the platforms with the help of APIs provided by both the platforms. Both systems are also using OAuth standard for authorization. To integrate Freshdesk with Basecamp 3, user needs to go through the fplowing steps. Login into Basecamp 3 using the credentials provided by the owner of the account (Admin.
In the left navigation bar, click on ‘Integrations’.
Click on ‘Continue’ to proceed further.
On the next screen, you need to specify a few things like your organization name (this will appear in the header), your email address ([email protected]. and if you want to allow user to access basecamp 3 via a subdomain (basecamp3.domain.com):
Choose ‘Fresh Desk’ from the list of integrations:
Click Continue. You will be asked to verify your account by clicking on a link sent in your email address:
After verification, you will be taken to the configuration page where you can select the projects or users that you want to sync with FreshDesk:
Select the project(s. or user(s. and click on ‘Save Changes’ to continue:
Click ‘Save Changes’ again to create an account for FreshDesk:
On the next page, you will be asked to edit some details like your email address (which will be added as [email protected]. and your password for FreshDesk:
Click Submit to return to the ‘My Integrations’ page where you can see tht your integration has been successfully created. On this page, you can also test it by clicking on ‘Test’ button:
To connect FreshDesk to Basecamp 3, you will need a Freshdesk account which can be created directly from your Basecamp 3 account by clicking on “New Account” button on ‘My Integrations’ page:
Login into your FreshDesk account using the credentials provided by us by clicking on “Sign Up” button and click on “Add Integration” button after successfully logging in:
Select ‘Basecamp 3’ from the list of integrations and click on ‘Allow Access’ to give permission for integration with your FreshDesk account:
Fill out some details like your organization name (this will appear in the header), email address ([email protected]. and alias (if you want to use one):
You can add a subdomain if you want by selecting it from the drop down menu:
Now you have to copy API key provided by us in order to proceed further:
Paste API Key provided by us in your Freshdesk account in API Key field:
Select the projects that you want to sync with FreshDesk and click on Save Changes:
Verify that your integration is working properly and there are no errors by testing it from your Freshdesk account:
