  • Integration of Flipkart and Basin
  • In order to create a unified ecosystem for its users, Flipkart has gone ahead and acquired the e-commerce company named “Basin”. The deal is worth INR 2000 crores which is roughly equal to $300 million. The acquisition will allow Flipkart to leverage the technpogy that basin runs on and will help in improving the overall user experience for the customers who shop at both the platforms. The integration between the two companies is expected to be completed within two months after which users will be able to see the buy button on both the platforms for most of the products. Additionally, the customer service will also be combined soon after the acquisition process is complete. The decision to acquire the company has been taken by Binny Bansal who took over as the CEO of the company after his co-founder Sachin Bansal stepped down earlier this year. The acquisition will also mean a big change for the startup of “Basin” since it will now get access to a much larger user base for its services.

  • Benefits of Integration of Flipkart and Basin
  • The most obvious benefit of the merger would be that the users of both the sites will be able to access all their products irrespective of what site they originally came from. This will be a welcome development especially for those customers who tend to buy products from both platforms due to limited choices on either of them. Secondly, contacts will be shared between the two companies which will make it easier for each of them as well as users to reach out to each other when needed. Thirdly, it will also allow both companies to cut down on their expenses which are usually very high in such cases. For instance, there will no longer be a need for separate warehouses since all orders can be managed from one single location. Fourthly, there will also be better coordination between the two companies when it comes to planning new ventures and developing new products. Fifthly, the users of both sites are likely to benefit from free shipping options since orders placed on both platforms can be shipped from the same warehouse. Finally, those customers who use both sites are likely to receive better deals and offers when shopping because of a better customer profiling system used by these companies.

The merger between “Flipkart” and “Basin” seems to be a win-win situation for both companies as well as users at large since they will now have access to more product options as well as improved customer support services.
