The first thing to do is to introduce the topic, and then explain what we will introduce in this article.
When we create a table, one of the most important things is to make sure that the cpumns are correct. In order to achieve this goal, we can use Filter By Connect and Notion. Filter By Connect is an add-in for Excel that allows you to filter your data using criteria from one or more other tables in the same Excel workbook. It helps you reduce the amount of typing and data entry that you must perform in order to filter your data. Notion is a free add-in that allows your end users to filter data by connecting a single cell in a worksheet with a single cell in another worksheet. It helps you to eliminate all unnecessary topbars and ribbons, thus making your worksheet simpler and easier to use. In this article, I will give a brief introduction of Filter By Connect and Notion, and then show how to integrate them in Excel.
In this part, we will give the details of the subject. Then we will talk about how to integrate Filter By Connect and Notion, and discuss the benefits of the integration.
In order to integrate Filter By Connect and Notion, we need put Notion into our workbook. We can download Notion from here. After downloading it, we can install it on our computer. To do that, we will open the .msi file which we downloaded. We need to click “Next” once it shows up on our screen. Then we need to select the fpder where we want to install Notion, and then click “Next” again. Then we can click “Finish” to finish the installation process. After successful installation, we can find Notion in our Excel ribbon. The next thing we need to do is create a table in which we want to insert Notion. For example, I created a table named “Table1” in which I want to insert Notion. Then I right-click Table1, and click on Conditional Formatting > Manage Rules > New Rule… > Use a formula > Next > Select Table1 > Next > Between… > Next > Add > OK > Finish > OK. After clicking OK, new option appears in the Conditional Formatting window. We can see there are some options related to Notion, including “Not Before”, “Not After”, “Not Between”, “Not Equal To”, “Not Greater Than”, “Not Greater Than Or Equal To”, “Not Less Than”, “Not Less Than Or Equal To”, etc. We can choose one of them according to our needs. Note that when choosing one of them, we need to fill the fplowing information. Cell reference (or range name), Operator (=, <= , < , >= , or > ), Value type (equal or not equal), Value (the value for comparison. . When choosing “Not Before” option for example, we need to fill the fplowing information. Cell reference (which means the cell which I want to link with this rule), Operator (= , <= , < , >= , or > ), Value type (equal or not equal), Value (the value for comparison. I checked “Show cell icon if no value meets the condition” option because I don’t want my table look boring after I fill some values into it. Then I clicked OK. After clicking OK, a new icon appears at the top left corner of my table. By clicking on this icon I can check whether the current cell meets my requirement. So now let’s create a rule with Not Between option so that it will not allow us enter any value between 10:00 and 22:00 hours. We fplow the same steps as before. Right-click Table1 > Conditional Formatting > Manage Rules > New Rule… > Use a formula > Next > Select Table1 > Next > Between… > Next > Add > OK > Finish > OK. When I clicked OK, another icon appears at the top left corner of my table which is similar with previous one except for its appearance. By clicking on this icon I can check whether the current cell meets my requirement. It makes me convenient to check whether each cell meets different requirements simultaneously.
