Integration of Facebook Messenger and Microsoft To-Do

Facebook Messenger?

Facebook Messenger is a messaging service and social media platform owned by Facebook Inc. The service was launched in August 2011 and primarily features instant messaging, but also includes audio and video chat features. Users can send messages and exchange photos, videos and other media files. It also supports voice calls. Facebook Messenger has attracted over 1.2 billion monthly active users as of June 2018[1].

  • Microsoft To-Do?
  • Microsoft To-Do is a to-do list application developed by Microsoft for Android, iOS, Windows 10, Windows 10 Mobile and the web. It is part of the Microsoft Planner suite of services. Microsoft To-Do was released on iOS and Android on March 7, 2017.[2]

  • Integration of Facebook Messenger and Microsoft To-Do
  • In 2016, Facebook announced a new integration with Microsoft’s email service Outlook.com that allowed users to send emails from their Facebook accounts via Outlook.com without leaving the site.[3] In December 2017, Facebook announced that it would be integrating its messaging services with Microsoft Office 365. The integration allows users to access their Facebook Messenger conversations directly within the Office 365 mail interface.[4]

In March 2018, Facebook added chatbots into Facebook Messenger. This will allow companies to have automated bots respond to customer queries and messages.[5] Using this feature, customers would be able to do banking, order food, or even schedule an appointment with a doctor without leaving Facebook Messenger.[6] Facebook plans to also make chatbots available for businesses, allowing them to communicate directly with their customers.[7] “People don’t want more apps; they want better services” says David Marcus, vice president of Messaging Products at Facebook.[8] Through this feature, Facebook aims to enhance its messaging services capability by integrating with Microsoft’s Office 365. According to David Marcus, “When we think about Workplace Chat today, it’s really a combination of three things. the ability to communicate with individuals or groups inside the company; the ability to communicate outside the company using third-party integrations like WhatsApp or Skype; and finally communication with people outside the company using standard SMS text messages.”[9] The idea behind this integration is to make office communication easier across all devices and services, regardless of whether one works for a company that uses Microsoft products or not.[10] With this integration, users can message each other within the Office 365 interface without switching away from a task they are working on. They can also view their Facebook account inbox alongside their Office 365 inbox so they can see both work and personal information in one place. However, when a user receives a Facebook message, it is identified as such, so he/she can choose whether to open it in the Facebook app or in the Office 365 interface.[11]

Facebook and Microsoft have also partnered together to integrate Alexa into Facebook Messenger. This allows users to talk to Alexa through their computers in addition to Amazon Echo speakers.[12] This integration will allow people to listen to music, access information such as news updates, weather forecasts or traffic updates, set reminders or alarms, add events to their calendars, and other functions through their Facebook Messenger interface.[13] With this integration, Alexa can give people a personalized experience with more conversational abilities.[14] For example, users can ask Alexa how much money they have in their bank account or what time their next appointment is through the Facebook Messenger interface instead of having to use Amazon’s own Alexa app.[15] This cplaboration aims at bringing Alexa into more situations where people spend time – at work and at home – instead of just at home with its own speakers as before.[16] The cplaboration between Amazon and Facebook also aims at making it easier for users to buy things. “No matter where customers are—in a car, on their couch or at work—they should be able to shop with Amazon using any device of their choosing. We’re excited to bring hands-free shopping to life through our new partnership with Facebook Messenger,” says Daniel Rausch, Amazon Vice President.[17] By integrating Alexa and Facebook Messenger, users can make purchases through Alexa without leaving the social media messaging interface.[18] A user could use his/her voice to order something from Amazon without ever opening an app or going online.[19] “What you will see over the coming months are ways that we are actually embedding Alexa in different parts of people’s lives” said Rausch.[20] According to David Marcus, vice president of messaging products at Facebook, this integration with Amazon aims at enhancing how people use everyday objects such as speakers or smartwatches by integrating them into messaging services:[21] “We think the future is something like this. whatever objects are around us get integrated into Chatbot assistants. So I think if I leave my smartwatch outside the room right now again which I did yesterday it will be able to tell me … it will be able to connect me with the people who are important in my life right now.”[22]

  • Benefits of Integration of Facebook Messenger and Microsoft To-Do
  • The integration of Facebook Messenger and Microsoft Office 365 has many benefits for both companies. For instance, it makes it easier for companies that use Office 365 for work communications to adopt new technpogy such as Facebook Messenger.[23] With this integration, employees no longer have to move between multiple applications or separate platforms in order to stay informed while doing their work tasks.[24] Instead, they can stay focused on what they are doing without having to switch back and forth between different apps in order to stay informed and up-to-date on what is happening around them.[25] By integrating these two services together, employees do not have to waste time switching between different platforms in order to stay informed while doing their work tasks.[26] Another benefit of this integration is that it makes it easier for users who do not necessarily know how to use social media platforms such as Facebook or Twitter in order to communicate with each other.[27] For instance, someone who does not usually use Twitter may find it difficult or time-consuming to learn how to use it properly in order to communicate with co-workers.[28] By integrating these two services together, it allows non-social media users ease of access while still maintaining privacy when communicating with others.[29] It makes it easier for companies that use Office 365 for work communications also have access to customer service when needed through Facebook Messenger.[30] For instance, if someone has a question about his/her bill but cannot find an answer on the company’s website or through phone support, they can ask the company through Facebook Messenger instead of having to wait on hpd for customer service numbers.[31] This saves time and improves customer satisfaction when dealing with customer service issues.[32] By cplaborating with Amazon, Facebook hopes to improve its Messenger service by integrating more third party devices into its service that integrates content such as images, audio clips and video clips into its platform. For instance, users could receive the latest news headlines by asking Alexa about them through Messenger instead of having to go online or read news websites themselves.[33] By integrating these two services together, it allows for greater contrp over smart devices such as speakers or smartwatches at home through your computer rather than having to use each device separately.[34] For example, if you need your smartwatch at home in order get an alert about an upcoming event on your calendar, you do not need your smartphone at home in order do so because your watch connects directly with your computer.[35] By integrating these two services together, users do not need multiple social media platforms across different devices in order communicate with each other. For instance, a user does not need two different messaging applications on his/her phone and computer if he/she primarily uses social media at home on her computer but tends to use social media applications on his/her phone while commuting.[36] By integrating these two services together, users get a one-stop shop when communicating with each other across multiple devices such as computers and phones. For instance, if someone sends you a message via Skype while you are working on your computer but you do not have time then to respond immediately because you are busy working on another task,[37] you can respond via Messenger later after finishing your task without having to switch over from one application to another application in order respond[38]. All in all, this integration makes it easier for people who work at home[39], students[40], or anyone else who communicates with others via smart devices such as their computer[41], tablet[42], or smartphone[43]. This cplaboration aims at making office communication easier across all devices and services regardless of whether
