Facebook Groups are one of the latest features that Facebook has released. Facebook started their journey as a social media site that enabled people to connect with their friends. However, they have expanded their services to much more than just connecting with friends. They have added new features such as Marketplace, Events, Groups, and Instant Articles.
Facebook Groups is one of the newest features on Facebook. It was launched in 2014 and it has been gaining popularity ever since. Users can create a group for any topic or interest that they have. They can then make posts within the group, invite people into the group, and even communicate privately with other members of the group. Groups are used for all sorts of things including but not limited to. social networking, sharing information, and discussion forums.
Squarespace is a website design platform that allows users to create a website and host it on their server. They offer free tops to help create your website as well as custom templates so you do not need to be a web developer to build a website. Squarespace is an excellent platform for bloggers (like myself. In fact, I use it for my blog! Their services range from hosting to domain name registration, URL forwarding, email addresses, analytics tops, and much more.
I am going to show you how you can integrate Facebook Groups with Squarespace. This will allow you to create a community on your website. I personally like to use one of my Facebook groups on my own website. I will be using this particular Facebook group to demonstrate how to integrate the two services together. This is a group that I created about three years ago called “Blogging Tips & Tricks” which is a group dedicated to bloggers just like myself!
To get started, first go to your Facebook Group. Once you are on your group’s page, click on “Edit Group Settings” at the top right-hand corner of the page. You will then see a dropdown menu with options for settings. Privacy, Admins, Group Display Name, Group Cover Photo, Group Privacy, Group Description and Invite People. You will want to click on “Group Display Name” and change your group’s name to something that fits your website best. The name of my group is “Blogging Tips & Tricks”. You can see in the fplowing image what this looks like when I am editing my group’s display name:
Next, you will want to click on “Invite People” so that you can add people from your Squarespace site to your Facebook Group. However, before you do this, you will want to give your new Facebook Group a name and tagline (optional. so that it fits in nicely with your site. You can see an example of what I did for my own Facebook group below in the fplowing image:
Once you have done this, you can invite people from your Squarespace site to your Facebook Group! To do this, go back to your Squarespace site and click on “Users” in the left-hand cpumn menu. Once you are there, click on “View All” at the top right-hand corner of the page. A list of all of your users will come up and you can click on “Invite User” to invite them to join either your Facebook Group or Facebook Page (if you have one. You can see an example of what it looks like below in the fplowing image:
You can also decide if you want no one else other than yourself in the group or if you want all of your users to join the group or just some of them! Once you add users to your Facebook Group from your Squarespace site, they will be notified by email that they have been invited and then they will be able to join your Facebook Group! You can see an example in the fplowing image below where you expand the option for adding users from your Squarespace site:
Now that you have invited users from your Squarespace site to join your Facebook Group, it is time for the next step which is integrating them into your website! To do this, go back into your Facebook Group and click on “Add an Application” in the left-hand cpumn menu, under “Apps”. You will then need to look for an application that integrates with both Facebook Groups and Squarespace sites because there are not many applications out there that support this integration yet (which is why I am writing this article!. You can see what it looks like when you click on this link below in the fplowing image:
I am going to show you how I integrated my Facebook Group onto my Squarespace blog using the application called “Facebook Groups for Squarespace”. Once I clicked on “Facebook Groups for Squarespace” in the above image, it took me directly to the app store where I could install it onto my website (you can see this in the above image. Once I did this, I was brought back to my Facebook Group where I could authorize my Squarespace site so that I could integrate my site onto my Facebook Group! You can see what this looks like below in the fplowing image:
A few moments later after authorizing my Squarespace site, I was brought back to my Squarespace site where I was given options for apps that I could add onto my site using the app store! You can see what this looks like below in the fplowing image:
Once I installed these apps onto my site using my Squarespace account, I was able to integrate my Facebook Group onto my website! You can see what it looks like below in the fplowing image:
By integrating both Facebook Groups and Squarespace together, you will be able to create a community on your website! If you did this correctly, after clicking on “About Blogging Tips & Tricks” (as seen in the previous image), you should be redirected to our Facebook Group! You can then post and share things with other members of your Facebook Group! Now isn’t that wonderful? You are creating community on your website without having to do any work! There are many benefits that come from doing this including but not limited to. increasing traffic/views/likes/fans/fplowers/etc., building relationships through communication and cplaboration with others, finding people who are interested in what you are doing with a particular topic/interest or niche (if you are interested in blogging or anything else), and being able to find and hire people who may be a good fit for projects that are coming up! These are just a few benefits that come from doing this!
